Hey! We're going okay, though I think the last weeks of the term will be challenging. DS has intensive swimming this week and most of next week with school. He will be tired...and probably cranky.

Lately he's been trying to pull a 4 day school week - for example, on Mondays he'll say 'I don't go to school today, it's a long weekend', or on a Friday 'it's Saturday, I don't go to school on Saturday, so I can stay home'. Whatevs dude!

This Xmas I'm taking a bit of leave, which I traditionally haven't done, so I'm looking forward to the break. We'll have DS's aunty and cousins stay for 5 days after New Years, that should be interesting (hopefully more enjoyable than I am envisioning!). Our house is small, so an extra 3 people will be a bit full-on at times.

How are the boys going @White Mage ?

Haha Degrassi Ds1 does the same thing, except he says it in ways like "I think I am going to have a holiday before the holidays, 1 day should be ok"
    Nah uh Buddy!
Sounds like it could be a fun few days. Be sure to drink plenty of wine!

Ds1 is ramping up the attitude. Officially seeing a lot of 9yr old behavior which I do not care at all. I ruin his life, he hates me, that sort of thing. I think it being the last few weeks of school has truly brought the feral out in him.
Ds2 continues to keep me on my toes to the point of exhaustion. Truly dreading the holidays.
My Mum goes to Japan for a month from New Years Eve on, and DH has no leave this holiday, and my 2 sisters have a lot going on. One is house sitting with her new baby and the other is in Canberra for a month visiting in-laws. SO it is truly just me and the kids this holiday.
DS2 does have 5 days over 2 weeks at his school holiday program, so it is something to look forward to I suppose.

I have finished the NDIS review meetings. Left DS2s feeling defeated and think we got jiffed for him again, will know soon enough.
DS1's seemed to go without a hitch and we laid everything on there, I feel we might get somewhere with that. Will know hopefully before the end of the year.. fingers crossed.

DS1's aide at school has been hinting to me where DS1 will be placed for grade 3 next year and who his teacher might be. Honestly am I little excited for next year.

@White Mage I can relate to the attitude DS has been a real little so-and-so at times.

He got super angry this afternoon at the slight change in the tempura chicken nuggets he was served. Unfortunately that brand were the only ones available when I went shopping. They actually looked nicer than the usual ones, but he wouldn’t have a bar of it.

We’re off to Vanuatu in March, that should be interesting food-wise

Hello everyone!! how are we doing today? I agree with you mommies my son is also getting grumpy he is getting tired of school now, the other day he was crying when we get home from school I asked him why he can't answer me and then he told me " mommy rest" he sat on the couch and ate his bread and after that he is back to his normal self again.

We are preparing for school transition next year, he will be changing school and I am creating a social story for him to read. Hopefully this school is going to be much better than the one we had this year. Fingers crossed

DS2's new NDIS plan was approved.. No increase, no respite, and I don't think he got funding for his holiday program. I am livid. AND they moved me on to Plan Management.

    Oh no, that really sucks

I do worry what we'll end up with after our review in March.

Someone told me recently that when asking for ongoing therapies, to make sure that you note that they are making progress with the therapies. Apparently if you paint a bleak picture that you need the therapy because your child is not improving, then they don't see it as useful to continue funding it (?)

I think it's really luck of the draw though when you have your review - some planners are helpful, others are looking to cut down the funding as much as possible.

Oh no!! not the kind of news you like to hear
I have been hearing a lot of complains about NDIS lately.

I am worried about our NDIS meeting too... it's rolling now here in the West they sent me a text message saying they will schedule a meeting once they got a spot for me.

Any tips on what happens in the NDIS meeting? What Can I expect to happen and some points to make? I am nervous now.

    Thank you!!

Get as many reports you can, up to date as well. Ask one of your specialists to come to your meeting.
Think about and talk about your kid on his WORST day.
You will have to go through every moment of a Bad day. Then a questionnaire, like can they open chip packets unaided.
Followed by asking what you need.
Do you need more therapy? What type?
Do you need equipment? What type?
Do you want to do social groups? Parental education.
Whole process can go longer then 2hrs.

My only other tip is check out to see if there are any council run ndis info nights.
Things change a lot, good to keep up to date.
