Default Coronial inquest **possible trigger warning**

I lost my father unexpectedly this October. It was a shock and unexpected, but he had been battling with his mental health for the last 5 years. It looks as though he took his own life, however we are still awaiting the official report.

We have just received an update that there may be a coronial inquest into his death. Has anyone experienced this? From my understanding it can be a positive thing as it’s a thorough investigation in to factors of his life at the time. My questions more so, are how long can an inquest can take and does the family receive the coroners report before the inquest begins?

Ps Admin - not sure I have posted in the right section, so please relocate if necessary.

I'm pretty sure you wouldn't receive the coroners report if the decision to do a coronial inquest is decided. You would only receive the report after the completion of the inquest.

Thanks. That’s what my thoughts were too. It’s hard not having answers but I understand there’s a necessary process that comes with it all.

I couldn't just read and run.

I have no idea about inquests but I wanted to stop and say how sorry I am for your loss.

I lost my Dad unexpected in October also. We are still waiting on the autopsy results to find out how his death occurred.

Losing a parent is so painful. Sending big hugs your way

    Thank you @Blossom74
I am so sorry to hear you have also lost your Father. Indeed, it’s incredibly hard.

Yes, it seems that it is a normal occurrence for autopsy results to take several months. It’s hard not knowing this piece of information promptly for closure.

    I hope you’re holding up ok. X

Thank you hon. Unfortunately I'm not doing so well. Dad's passing was very sudden and the grief is just so overwhelming. I'll be ok but it is a very difficult time coming up to Christmas, as I'm sure you would understand

I can definitely relate. It’s such a hard time of year when your loved one isn’t here to celebrate it. It’s hard to feel the happiness that Christmas brings and when you do, you feel a little guilty for it. Well that’s me anyway. Please feel free to PM me if you would like someone to chat to at all.
