May I ask how old you are? As you age the the percentage of retrieved making to day Day 5 keeps dropping. So if you’re 40 out of 10 you would expect 1 to make it to day 5.

But if you’re not then yes there’s something going on. Lynn’s good at egg health and has a good regime to improve that. It’s best to give it three months of building egg quality to really see what’s going on and if it makes a difference.

It’s definitely quality over quantity. My last own egg cycle with Lynn I had great retrieval and basically 10 down to a few day 5 but none were PGS ok, some were unable to be tested. I was 40. I transferred one which was a low grade but the best of a bad bunch. It was a bfn.

On the flip side...I have a colleague who’s seeing Lynn and only had two eggs retrieved and two fertilised and made it day 5 and fell pregnant with first transfer. They’re unbelievable odds.

Having said that I switched to overseas donor and now have a bouncy 8 month girl. I also have an almost six year old that Lynn helped me with.

    All the best

    hi

thanks for the message. I am 34 with AMH level of 9.5. apparently that is low as it's expected to be 14 or something. the blood tests didn't show any sign of poor egg quality. I might ask if I can specifically test for any hormones that might indicate poor egg quality. do you have any suggestion?

I've had 3 cycles with LB and the eggs have gotten worse. I'm on her supplements and had different protocols now. I think it might not be compatible.

still very depressed today. I think I'll pick myself up once I hear from the embryologist - regardless of the result.

    how are you?

    hi,

I spoke to the embryologist today to ask if I could freeze the embryo today - day 3. they said no.

embryo is on track - 6 cells - but with a lot of fragmentation - 30-50%. so I'm not very hopeful.

they'll call tomorrow on day 4 as per standard and will call again before freezing IF the embryo makes it. it's not standard for them to speak to me on day 3 and the day of freezing. however they were very empathetic with my situation.

they also told me that my first embryo from the first cycle was very good - 4BB, which didn't implant anyway. I hope it's an indication that the meds haven't worked for me in the subsequent cycles. can't change the crap eggs if it's natural. just have to do more cycles then. still very depressed.

thanks for checking in. how are you feeling?

it is hard to believe that your egg quality would have deterioted so much over a short time naturally. it surely is a case of non-suitable stimulation protocol (for lack of a better term). there are so many options after all of meds and their combination and their quantities. there must be something better out there for you. obvs i’m no expert at all, but it just seems so strange to me.

i’m good, thanks for checking. embryo is in the right place and has a heartbeat and everything else it shld have at this stage. extremely relieved. however, i will only consider this journey over once i hold a living & breathing baby in my arms. taking it a day at a time, not making too many plans yet.

I can imagine how you feel. I'd find it conflicting to celebrate until a live and healthy baby is in my arms too. it's weird how we would make many plans to get the baby AND when we are expecting one, we refrain from making plan to manage the unexpected.

I have a good feeling about your bub hope you can find little moment to enjoy and celebrate. you're growing a life and doing a pretty good job at it!!!

afm, I got the update from the embryologist today - day 4. the embryo is compacting right on track. less fragmentation today because it 'gathered' the fragments when compacting. I think I know what she means. I saw a video of an embryo do that. fascinating!

I'm surprised (but very pleased!!!) that the embryo is making it this far. still one more hurdle to pass!! the embryologist said there is a nuclei though. not sure how that is going to turn out. they'll call tmr IF it stops or becomes a blast. they'll grow it to day 6 IF it still needs more time to grow.

    *realistically hopeful*

    Hang in there!
    As they say...
    All you need is one...
And it’s not over yet! Fingers crossed!
I agree though, it seems like a protocol issue.

    hi ladies

just thought I'd give you an update. spoke to the embryologist and received the bad news today.

the only and one embryo didn't make it on day 6. it was a fighter despite the poor egg quality to start off. it passed all the hurdles, up until forming a blast, when it attempted to make the cavity / inner cell mass a few times but struggled and started to deteriorate. it even reabosorbed all the fragments and the vacuole, which is eye opening.

    so close but not quite!!

I'm moving on to another specialist as I've now had a closure with LB. I've given 3 attempts so that the protocol can be adjusted but it got worse and worse, plus the unacceptable service and care level.

wishing you all a positive journey and I'll see you around on the other boards thank you for all the encouragement and support. wouldn't have been the same without you all.

I might need some time off if recommended by the new FS. she wants me to do a laparoscopy just to be sure. I understand that it'll need some recovery time. will join the monthly ivf board once I start again.

    xx

so sorry about your little emby. one can grow quite attached when following their journey over the 5 days and it is such a battler. and it fascinating how things change everyday.

wish you all the best for the next part of your journey. i hope to read about it in the other thread. and hopefully it’ll be good news! xxx

I’m so sorry about your embryo-so close.... makes it even harder. Good luck
    With your new FS.

I hope they unlock the missing piece of information to help you make beautiful embryos, ready to burrow!

You will get there, I’m confident of that because you’re willing to change/adapt/pivot and I believe you’ll uncover what you need.

    All the best!
