    Default Same sex marriage vote.

I really hope we can have have a respectful discussion about this.

I'm all for it and I really wish we would stop debating it and just get on with it.

I feel like a postal vote is just a huge waste of money and I worry that even if we vote it still won't be passed.

I have listened to a few comments from Penny Wong on this and I love what she has to say. The potential damage to the young vulnerable LGBTQI community as well as children with same aex parents will likely be devastating. I can only imagine that if you are a teenager already struggling with your sexual identity the hurtful comments could push you over the edge.

Here's what she had to say:

This. It is inevitable it will happen one day in the future anyway. Why not just change the law now?

So, yes, fully support gay marriage. But unfortunately both major parties have very conservative sides to them - and they don't support gay marriage. If they were to push the issue, they would lose their support and therefore government. Despite Penny Wong being Labor, Labor in government also never made the change. It's horrible, but about political survival.

I am so incredibly against having a stupid vote.

it is going to be $120 MILLION for a vote that wont count or mean anything (the conservative members will vote no anyway, no matter what the postal vote says).... just pass the freaking law already !!!!!

Imagine what they could do with $120 million! Like maybe support services to reduce suicide rates within the community.

    Default Same sex marriage vote.

The way I see it- there are three outcomes to this, and the end result is the same- p!ssing $120 MILLION DOLLARS away.

Outcome 1- postal vote is yes. Which is no freaking surprise. Coalition passes law.

Outcome 2- postal vote is yes. Conservatives ignore it (as it's non binding) and refuse to co-operate. Law is not passed (but will in the future).

Outcome 3- postal vote is no (unlikely).
When labor next comes into power they pass it anyway.

This non binding non compulsory postal vote makes me so very very angry.
What a ****ing waste of money.
What a ****ing spineless leader we have.
Stop ****ing around, the vast majority of people want it, it's going to happen one way or another.

Oh and another thing- Tony Abbott's vile speech on why we should vote no. He says it's about religious freedom and political correctness. Erm no. It's about gay people wanting to get married.
