    Default Online sperm donor stories

    Hi All,

30 yr old single woman hoping to use donor spent to conceive via IUI.

Due to the long wait list of local sperm and the massive costs for international sperm, I'm starting to look at the alternative of finding a donor online.

TBH, the thought makes me a bit nervous - no safety, health checks etc, but it seems to be quite a popular option with a lot of online resources.

Just wondering if anybody has ever made contact and used an online sperm donor safely?

    Thanks!
    Blanks.

    Default Perth sperm donor clinics

    Hi all,

Does anybody have any current information on waitlists around Perth for local sperm?
I've spoken to a few, waiting to hear back from others...

Concept - 12 to 18 mths wait local, no international.
Fertility North - international sperm available, local unknown
Pivet - waiting for phone call return
Keogh - waiting for email return

Other 4 clinics don't offer donor sperm.

    Thanks in advance!

Our kids are donor conceived via a friend of ours. Medically yes it is more risky you have to trust that they are going to do all the medical checks and blood tests etc. But in saying that we have two kids from the same donor who are perfectly healthy. Both pregnancies came along quickly and we have friends that started ivf with an anon donor at the same time as we started with a known donor and they have spent 6 years and thousands $$.

Hi candice, thanks for sharing - you are so lucky to be blessed with two happy healthy little ones. Did you discuss legalities before hand?

Hi yes we saw a lawyer prior to conception. Haven't had to refer back to any prior agreements luckily as we've all stayed on good terms.

You could also fly to one of the eastern states where there are no wait lists.
Another might be to find a donor online and 'BYO' to a clinic.
One thing to consider, depending on WA law, is that the donor could be considered a parent, and seek access/custody. In Victoria, if a clinic isn't used, a donor is considered a parent in the case of a single woman carrying (in a couple, the partner is the other parent, but for single women the donor is a legal parent).
In terms of protection, an agreement can be considered for intention, but is not legally binding. Just something to consider before starting down this path
