Default Weird skin spot/mark on face

Hi all, hope you are well,

Over the last few days, our four week old has developed a spot on his face, about the size of a 5c piece. It's a red circle with white dots inside it. We have been to a GP twice and both times she had no idea what it was and prescribed three different creams. None seem to be working.

I took a photo of it here - http://imgur.com/a/udgVl (for some reason I couldn't add the image here).

Any input as to what it might be would be helpful. We are trying to get in to see a dermatologist at some point but that may not be for a few days.

    Thanks again.

Could it be scabies? Does anyone else in your house have a rash like this?

    Go to skin specialist asap

I don't think so (re scabies). The GP has no idea and has given us three different creams. We are due to see a skin spec tomorrow.

Hi there! Wondering how you went! Asking for a friend... she's got something similar... and nothing's working, three different creams too but no doctor has taken a swap? We thought it could be ringworm as she just got a new kitty. It's near her eye but also on her arms... I thought it could be a herpes virus but don't want to suggest that.

Looks very much like ringworm, usually very itchy with small white pustules in the centre. Very contagious fungal infection, also known as "jock itch" or tinea. Try using Clotrimazole cream (Canesten). It will take a while to heal (usually over a week).
