Otherwise I love my Kindle and I've been reading waaaay more (books) since I've had it. But it's an old model, so I'm not sure what model to suggest.

My DH still prints out journal articles to read, though, because a) they're hard to view on the kindle; and b) because they're pdfs, you can't make use of the search or highlighting functions.
Thank you for telling me this because reading articles was one of the reasons I was leaning towards a kindle! Mmmm...

I won't be paying for unlimited, I'm glad they had the free trial so I could see how bad it was!

I didn't even know they existed. DH bought mine as a gift...I must thank him for choosing the right one. Not sure he loves coming in for a snuggle and having a dropped kindle lying inbetween us, though 😂

I was really against kindle until I got my first one 6ish years ago. I'm onto my third - DH bought me a paperwhite for Xmas.

I love it. I love real books as well but our house is overflowing books so its really important for me to save on space.

I also read just before bed and its not too disturbing at all.

I am a prolific reader. Love the feel of a real book but still have a kindle. I have the voyage. Definitely get the paper white over the basic model.

I can't comment on kindles, I have a different brand, but second borrowing ebooks from your local library. It saves you a fortune!

You can convert pdfs into the mobi format so you can highlight passages. There's actually a way you can do it by emailing it to your Amazon email address (they assign you one, it's not an actual email address) with "convert" as the subject and it's done automatically.
