Default Looking for a recommended fertility specialist in western Sydney

Hi I'm new to this forum. I live in nsw, Ive been advised by my obstetrician to now see a ivf specialist. TTC 4 years. Im 29 yrs old. I don't know how to begin choosing a specialist. I'm wondering if I need to compare fertility specialists and what I need to look for. I've been recommended genea Liverpool because it's close to where I work. Any reviews or comments would be great. It's a daunting process so any advice welcome

Thanks for your advice. Can I ask what fertility clinic of specialist you were seeing prior? I have been referred to Geoff Reid. Wondering if anyone has seen him and could give some feedback?

I saw Geoff Reid too and he was nice, but after all the research I had done, I felt like he didn't have much of a clue. I told him all about my failures and he wanted to try the same thing others had tried and failed. He's a very nice man, great bedside manner, but he's no where near as experienced as Dr Lighten.

Can I ask, have you done any of the usual blood tests, like AMH, day 3 bloods for female hormones, had your blood sugar tested, etc? Has anyone suggested the possibility of endometriosis or blocked tubes? What work up have you done in the last 7 years? Any male fertility issues? If you're a complicated case, you may need to go to someone like Dr Lighten, but if they haven't been able to pinpoint the root cause of your fertility problems maybe it's worthwhile visiting a bulk bill IVF clinic like Primary IVF and do a few cycles to see how you go?

I have blood tests and found I had never ovulated. I have been on clomid for 12 months and ovulating every month while on it. I have my tubes flushed and and there was no problems. I've had some blood tests but not day 3 only day 21. I had polyps in my uterus which were removed and also had a curret. My husbands sperm was fine. That's all the testing we've had and according to my obstetrician I should be able to get pregnant. He has no idea why it's not working. No one has mention endometriosis to me. He says some people are infertile with no explanation. I find that hard to believe, don't you?

There are some women who may have unexplained fertility, it is common, but I find that there's usually a reason if they dig.. But sure, there are some who are just not able to fall pregnant, but it could be bad quality eggs, which is still a reason, it's not unexplained!

Tbh, I can't recommend anyone because I was disappointed with all of them!

Like all Drs, I have heard mixed reports about Dr Lighten. One friend had a horrible experience with him and another friend had success with him as he's particularly good with endometriosis. Bella Vista might be a bit of a hike for you if you're near Liverpool though.

I went to Next Generation (which I think is now part of Monash) and saw Dr Peter Benny. He was fantastic and we were successful on our 3rd round (we have several issues at play). Dr Matthews at the same practice is also excellent. They have a few western Sydney locations.
