I'm after some advice. I am 16 weeks and I have had a constant headache. Today is day 4 with the headache. It hasn't gone away at all. It's a sharp throbbing pain feels like knives being plunged into my skull. It's fine if I sit still and not move but if I even turn my head its back. I have taken panadol, tried warm and cool compresses. A bath. Exercise. I'm out of ideas. Laying down to rest is even worse, so sleeping is put much fun at night.
Any ideas on how to eleviate it would be wonderful.

I would be going to a chemist to get your blood pressure checked asap. Headache not relieved be Panadol can be a sign of pre-eclampsia. You are very early on though, so hopefully not. Other than that, i would recommend a Dr appointment.

I have had migraines all pregnancy currently 32 weeks. Panadol did nothing so my ob suggested some panadine to get on top of it.
If your blood pressure is ok it's not uncommon to get pretty severe headaches from the increase in hormones.

I use Tiger Balm for hormonal headaches. Its the only thing that helps but I'm not sure if it's safe to use during pregnancy or not?

No real advice but some support.
I used to get migraines regularly and since week 12/13, i have been getting really strong headaches that verge on migraines. Haven't really found any miracle solution yet for these. Water, rest and massages have been high on the list but some days it feels like nothing will do and sitting on the couch with my eyes closed and some meditation music seems the only option while waiting for it to pass.
best of luck

Thanks for the replies.
blood pressure is good, I take it often.
I noticed yesterday it went away for most of the day then returned in the evening. It was there all night and this morning. Then after school drop off and doing the house work this morning it seems to have gone again. I'm hoping it doesn't come back. If it does I'm guessing it is a tension headache. Since it isn't there when there are no kids or hubby at home. The pharmacist told me i could use panadine but if it doesn't go away then I should see the GP.

Could you be clenching your jaw or grinding your teeth? Maybe try and find some relaxation techniques? Other options that could help are physio, acupuncture, osteopathy, massage or a chiropractor I guess depending on the cause.

I Suffered from bad headaches with my first pregnancy and this time round too. Panadol does absolutely nothing! if I have the opportunity I lie down for a bit or a cold pack on the back of the neck. Try a cold pack instead of heat pack.

I got headaches when pregnant with my daughter. They'd come and stay for a week or 2 at a time. My ob told me to drink Coke. It worked for me
