Default Is it ok the up the mg of clomid?

Hi everyone, I am just about to start my 4th round of clomid tomorrow, my specialist hasn't gotten back to me with if she would like to change my dose.

Do you think I can just up the dose myself from 50 to 100? Can it have a negative reaction?

    Thanks in advance!

The risk is you could make too many follicles and end up with a multiple pregnancy. I think the woman off TV Kate plus 8 had her quins? as a result of clomid
I was started on 150mg and had my cycle cancelled when the monitoring scan showed 5 follicles.
    Did you ovulate on 50mg?
The stakes are pretty high if you increase your dose without advice so personally I'd be very hesitant to do it before you hear back from your doc.

If you ovulate on 50 but aren't falling pregnant then no definitely don't increase. If you increase you risk multiple eggs releasing (which if fertilise could split again). Best to keep at 50 unless you know for sure that you didn't ovulate

Each time I have had an ultrasound and the trigger shot at around day 14, the doctor normally only sees one good follicle size around 20mm but yes I definitely ovulate each time - as far as I know!

Thanks for all your input ladies, sound like I should definitely stick to the same dose!

I agree with the others, don't increase. If you are ovulating, increasing the dose isn't going to make it more likely that you will conceive. Good luck Hun!

Hi ladies, I hope you don't mind me joining the thread... I have a similar question...

Last month I took 50mg clomid and day 21 progesterone was 70 (which I understand is very good). This month I took 50mg clomid once again, but my day 21 progesterone was 26.4 and doc thinks (despite the agony I was in during cd13-15) that I haven't ovulated. Ggr!

He now wants me to increase dosage to 100mg clomid for next month. I'm reasonably happy to do this, but would this put me at risk of hyper stimulation? My doc doesn't ultrasound to check follicles so I'd be going blind. I'd be thrilled with a baby or even twins, but not sure I'd cope with multiples higher than that!!

You won't be medically hyper stimming on that low dose. There's a good chance you will produce 1 or 2 eggs and no guarantee any will fertilise. I'd go with the 100
