Default What is the best present you have ever bought your child?

so today is my DD's 11th birthday ... and she is soooo excited.

4 yrs ago her best friend moved to Brisbane. They still facetime each other at least once a week ... the love has never died.

anyway - we have long promised a holiday together with her and her parents (who are close friends of DH and I) but have never got it together timing wise.

So we decided it was time to do it (even though we are going on holidays later in the year as well) ....

so we are going to the Gold Coast with them in July. Her friend rang her at 6am this morning and the two of them were jumping up and down since

(the actual present is tickets to Sea World .... we just have to go to Qld to go there )

so - what is the present your child has been most excited to receive?

It was actually for myself and ds but my folks paid for us to go to Borneo with them to see the orangutans in the wild in sepilok. Amazing trip. They also paid for us to go Vanuatu with them after my grandma passed as my mum used her inheritance money to do it as grandma said you love to travel and so did I so take your family somewhere neither of us have been. We are also going to Fiji Friday week for his 10th bday & my 40th. No other presents no party. One could say my kids are and will be continuously spoilt rotten

MY daughter is only 1, but she is obsessed with this blow up tummy roller thing that has balls in it.

Stepdaughter's favourite is a hair styling set- hair ties, clips, bands, style tips, brushes.

Stepson's favourite is his mp3 player.

Given I don't have a child yet to buy presents for, I'm going to contribute by the best present I bought for my footy mad cousin...

A few years back I flew down to Adelaide to surprise him and took him to an AFL game for his 12th birthday. I sussed out with another cousin who was familiar with the stadium and managed to get us seats right by the Crows race. He was able to get his footy signed by a few players and the Crows won. It rained and was freezing cold, but I plied him (and me!) with hot chocolate at every break and to this day he still talks about it and says it's the best birthday present he's ever received.

My eldest is only 4, so it's from my perspective rather than theirs.

Best presents have without a doubt been Schleich animals for DD's 2nd birthday and a Grimm's wooden rainbow stacker for DS's first birthday. 2.5 years and 1 year later, respectively, they're still played with daily.

An interstate trip with 4yo DD, just the three of us. Her first time on a plane, first time staying in a hotel. She loved the hotel so much she insisted on getting room service rather than eating out, she was just so excited to be in a hotel She loved every second of travelling, of being 'on holiday', more than the actual activities we did. I'll never forget it!

DS is Star Wars mad, so I'm pretty sure he would say the different Star Wars Lego pieces we've given him the last few years. DD might say her dolls house - she played with it daily for about 12 months. She would probably add Frozen and her Elsa dress to her list, and in a few weeks the tickets to frozen on ice!

For DDs 3rd birthday I told her we could hire a jumping castle, I was looking online and came across a site that sold smaller jumping castles for home use and there was a pink and purple princess castle one that she fell in love with. We decided to buy it and on her birthday she thought it was for hire, I had explained previously that when you hire you have to give it back at the end of the day. Anyway obviously since we had bought it we didn't have to give it back and when she realised it was hers to keep she was SO excited. We had to keep it up for about a week until we finally convinced her to let us pack it away
