    Default IVF newbie

    Hi,
I hope to have my first round of IVF in August (need to sort out the $$$ first) and I was wondering if anyone can give me some advice on this.
The clinic I go to does egg retrieval on 8, 9 and 11th of August. From what I understand they transfer the embryo a few days later and then the blood test is done 2 weeks after that (I think). I am due to fly interstate for work from the 20th to 23rd August. How do you generally feel after the transfer of the embryo?
Sorry if this is a silly question to ask…….

Hi there, the short answer to your question is that most people feel fine after embryo transfer and go back to work the same day or fly etc so it's generally not an issue. A small percentage of women end up overstimming and get OHSS which can leave them quite sick.
I think your biggest risk is not if you will be well enough to go but more if your dates line up or not. I've had cycles delayed as I was a slow responder to meds and therefore my trigger was delayed 4 days and there was a knock on effect. You need to also work out if your clinic is planning to put back at Day 1, day 3 or day 5 embryo and this effects timing too. Best of luck

Thank you. I live in Darwin so they only do pick up once a month so if there was any delay the pick up won't occur until 4th, 5th or 6th September.

If all goes well for stims then the embryo transfer is generally fine. I go back to looking after my toddler and elderly FIL straight away with no issues. My FS says that as long as you keep your heart rate and temperature reasonable (no heavy exercise or hot baths etc) then its business as usual.
