Default Scrap "no jab no pay"

Just read this leaked announcement ahead of budget

"Reduction in family tax benefit for anti-vaxxers

From July, Family Tax Benefit A payments will be reduced by $28 a fortnight for each child who does not meet immunisation requirements. The government will scrap a former “no jab, no pay” penalty which withheld $726 end-of-year payments from anti-vaccination parents"

I thought it was just childcare related payments that were getting ditched, not all parenting ones.

I assume it's changed because those end of year payments have been scrapped for everyone anyway now yeh?

Disappointing. I thought this was a good measure to ensure most* people would get the jab for their kids.

    I think you're right.
I'm pretty sure they're phasing out the ftb supplements and are increasing the regular fortnightly payments in place.

They leaked that they were not cutting FTB supplements anymore. (I think!)

I guess there will be more details tonight.

I didn't know they were increasing normal payments. I had just heard that no one was getting those mid year payments anymore

Ah, well there you go. It seemed silly to do what I said above as it saves many people from owing large amounts to Centrelink for underestimating.

That's what I had last heard.
But there's always some proposal to change payments, so I can't keep up 😂
