Default IVF Help with BMI over 35

    Hi all,

I am new here and not really sure how this works but have read some awesome posts so thought I would give it a try.

My partner and I have been trying to conceive for sometime now with no luck. I am 35 and over weight but other than my weight I am healthy. We have had some investigations done as to why we haven't had any luck and it comes down to my PCOS and my partners low sperm count. Doctors told us we won't be able to get pregnant naturally and then they also told us because of my bmi they couldn't help If only I was taller my weight wouldn't be an issue, what a stupid system they use. I know it is to give the baby the best possible chance but I know many people bigger than me that have had healthy pregnancies. I have been trying to loose weight now for over a year and have only been able to loose 6,7 kg.

I am just wondering if anyone else has had issues because of BMI and also if you have found a doctor in Brisbane who is willing to help if you were over the stupid recommended
    max ?

    Thanks in advance.

Go straight to Wazza at QFG. He's the best in the business hands down and BMI no issue

Don't put off treatment just to loose weight. Just do your best while doing ivf. You need time on your side not BMI

Try a different clinic. Not all clinics have BMI restrictions on treatment. My first clinic did not, my second clinic did. Best of luck.

Warren will encourage weight loss but won't hold off treatment. I've used him and another dr at QFG and neither of them refused to treat me based on weight.

Having said that I wish I had lost weight before cycling. Although now that I'm pregnant the weight is falling off.

Same, I ended up smaller after baby was born. No baby weight at all.
