We have a very early international flight leaving brisbane coming up, with a 2 night stay in brisbane before the international flight. I'm unsure if it would be best to get accommodation near the airport so it will be easier to catch the early flight or in the city and taxi to the airport.
We haven't been to brisbane for about 12 years so will try and fit in some touristy activities in the two days we have there
Thoughts?

Early morning taxi from the city won't take long to get there.
And you will enjoy Brisbane more by staying in the city

If you're wanting to do touristy stuff then I'd suggest staying in the city. There is a Novotel at the airport, but the only thing close by to do is DFO which is only a short walk away. Depending on how early is early, traffic isn't too bad in the early hours to get to the airport.

Since you're here two nights I'd probably stay in the city so you can get out and explore. The Rydges in Southbank is great because when you walk out the door you're already near cafes, restaurants, the cultural center etc. Theres also the Hilton in the city which is right in Queen St Mall.
It shouldn't be a problem to organize an early morning taxi to the airport.
Another idea is to spend the first night in the city and check in to a hotel near the airport for the second night so you're close for your early flight.

I'd stay in the city and catch the train to the airport.
ETA would depend on train times. I'm not too sure what time they start in the morning and what time you need to be at the airport.Last edited by SSecret Squirrel; 03-05-2017 at 18:43.

Definitely stay in the city. There is not much around the airport - mostly light industrial.

We stayed at the Pegasus motor inn on nudgee road at hamilton. Pretty close to the airport and quite a few nice restaurant at the wharf which is about a 10 min walk and if your staying on a fri/sat night eat street is on aswell.
