Its finally happened for us heyside. Im just riding the excitement wave coz thats what im feeling. Early days but even a bfp is a massive deal for me i guess coz it means some kinda implantation and ive never gotten this far. I cant believe im actually a lady who's gotten 2 lines on a stick! I showed dh the stick before i even said anything. His first words were, "Youd better get on bubhub then." He knows how important all your support has been over the year/ years? I dont know how long its been. I dont know what frucking day it is.

Someone (aka @georgeousgeorge ) poked this bear and I had to come here to do a cartwheel 🤸‍♂️.

Wowzer that is a perfect line. And yes, celebrate this win. Your wild turkey can wait! I will text you tomorrow and try catch up with you in person!! Aaaaahhhhhhhhh!

You have made my day...xx 😘

Also, I cant scroll back on my phone, but I read someone was put on clomid but is over 40? I did clomid in my early 30's and I wouldnt waste time growing extra follicles that they wont extract but rely on you to bed at the right time. My old FS wouldnt prescribe clomid to women over 35. Straight to IVF, dont waste time. I did and we never got there. The process of IVF is not as daunting as you think. Its a big fat chance and its worth it.

I'm so freaking excited for you!

Sorry for my late reply too. I'm sick as a mongrel dog and even an excited voicemail from our dear BIB - alerting me to the big news - couldn't raise me from my death bed!!!

@gorgeousgeorge - well done honey. I'm so pleased for you

My age is 45 and my DB is 49, his sperm count is great, my eggs are extremely low. Had a laeroscopy a couple of weeks ago and all ok. My periods are every 28 days. FS said that i am probably wasting my money and should only try one round of IVF, she doesn't have a great bedside manner but it's most likely true. FS has prescribed Clomi and not even sure what it does. Would love to be able to use my own eggs. What is everyones suggestions, recommendations? Am i fooling myself? Need the cold hard truth
Hi lovely Welcome to our little group!

OK ... you want the cold hard truth? I was 40 when I started IVF with my hubby, and despite having a regular cycle I was given a 5% chance of success. That's about as cold and hard as it gets I think.

We did 4 cycles all up. I was a poor responder so despite the fact that they were able to extract some great sperm from hubby, the best I could do was to produce a grand total of 7 - yes, SEVEN - eggs from those 4 cycles.

2 Fresh transfers - both BFN's. One frozen transfer which was a BFP but we MC at 8 1/2 weeks. The fact is that when you're over 40, *most* of your eggs are clapped out and not genetically sound

So .... what would I do in your shoes? I'd do one IVF cycle for sure. Give it the old college try! But if you're going to do that, just understand that the odds of producing a good egg are slim at 45. Not impossible - our very own @Green lady had success using her own eggs, BUT .... she had to produce a lot of bad eggs first to find her golden one

The one thing I wish someone had told me is NOT TO KEEP WASTING MY MONEY on my own eggs. As much as I wanted it to work, as hopeful as I was ... all that money could have gone towards our donor egg cycle, instead of us having to go into hock with the bank to pay for it.

We did one cycle with our donor (and I'm happy to discuss that option with you via PM if you have questions, but suffice to say that YES, it IS possible to find an egg donor in Australia!) and we fell pregnant on the first fresh transfer. All I needed was a good egg it seems, as I'm now 32 weeks along.

Anyway, enough waffle from me. I just wanted to respond to your post yesterday. Apologies for the delay but as you can probably see we had a bit of excitement here yesterday and your post slipped through the cracks. Welcome hon, this group is amazeballs and I'm sure you'll enjoy your time here. Good luck xxx

    Default IVF Over 40's #45

Thanks so much @Blossom74, I'm so glad I found this group and have been eagerly reading everyone's stories. I'll keep you posted with my progress. I'll try the one cycle then I think you're right, I'll need to look at egg donar options.

One more question, I read about the growth hormone vitamins in an earlier post. When are they recommended for?

I believe it's prescribed to regulate follicle development - but I've not tried it myself. There was no point when I was making so few follicles Hopefully one of the other ladies can help ...

Not good news for me yesterday ladies one of our twins no longer has a heart beat it looks like he/she stopped growing a few days ago. Warren saw a gap in the lining straight away which he thinks could have caused the little one to pass over time, presume from the bleed and clot susspecting the UK sonigraphers just missed it. We are devestated as were just coming to terms with twins after sharing the news with parents. He cant guarantee this is what has happened and has said maybe the maybe was just not chromosomally normal. He has put me on rest for two weeks to makesure it doesn't affect the other twin but it does look far enough away. He has told me its nothing I have done but I am sure the UK trip hasn't helped. Just so sad 😢.
