It's been great as my husband had to fly home for work and I was worried about what I was going to do with her during the transfer. He is a wonderful person and I definitely recommend using him.
@Treens73 i was there too today :-) we're cycle buddies, i dont know if you saw me, i was the girl in the corner reading a book xox

    Default Newbie

Hi everyone, I'm new here so hope you don't mind me joining in๐Ÿ˜„ I'm 43 and DH is 44. Ive done 4 IUI's in the last year, the first one was a success, however i miscarried at 7 wks. I'm planning on doing IVF in July, here in Sydney with Primary IVF, but to be honest I'm not feeling very positive about the outcome of that, I suppose I'm just doing it, so that my DH and I know in our minds that we tried everything. So to keep myself from going insane๐Ÿ˜ฉ if that does not work, I need a Plan B, which is Donor Egg route. I'd like to have a trip planned for September/October. I spoke to my Dr and he recommended the egg donor route if I really want to have a child, so I've been trying to get my head around that idea for months. I feel like what's important to me is to have a family with my DH, whether it's with my own eggs or donor eggs, I really don't care. I've done so much research into clinics, in Cyprus and Greece. I've ruled out Cyprus now and decided on Greece, as its much more regulated. I pretty much narrowed it down to Embryolab and New Life, however after reading through all your amazing stories here on Embryoland, I'm now feeling really swayed towards them, it would be really hard not to. Also, I cannot find many reviews on the other two Clinics. Has anybody here have any experience with them?

Best wishes to all you lovely past, current and future cyclers. Thank you for your abundance of valuable information. I'm so glad I came across this forum, as this is a very lonely road at times. Looking forward to reading about all your journeys and getting to know you all๐Ÿ˜€

Welcome @Mablelina! I'm sorry to hear that you miscarried but happy for you in that having a plan B is very healthy - these days families are created in so many different ways - it doesn't really matter, does it! At the end of the day, a child is lucky to have parents who really want to love and provide a loving home to a child - a child that is very much wanted.

I haven't heard of the other clinics but some use Iakentron. There's a clinic in Thessaloniki I believe and Athens (not sure). Ladies have had success there. I guess it depends on what you feel comfortable with.

But yes, Embryoland is popular as Dr Nick is very passionate and his style gives women confidence. He's pretty proactive and the Skype call is pretty inspiring. Ladies have had luck on the first go - others need a few.

A big note: I think that if you have any other issues with fertility (e.g. Immune, endo etc) under control - I don't think the difference matters between clinics. Many of us are dealing with those issues in Aus with specialists to ensure our bodies are prepped for the DE cycle. I'm using Dr Gamal
Matthias in Sydney for a protocol to deal with high natural killer cells.

We have some lovely ladies already there having transfers and some just returning - it's a boom at the moment - have you seen roll call of who's on the journey? Pretty exciting times at the moment!

    Best wishes and ask away,
    Cheers!

Hi Ladies, long time since my last post.....

I've been keeping up with all of your journeys and thought I should make the time to post as many of you were so generous with your information when I started looking into DE and Dr Nikos last August, resulting in a very quick trip to Embryoland in September.

Fast forward 8 months and I'm happy to report that I'm expecting a bub in around 6 weeks time. It's been a bit of a roller-coaster with a lot of spotting in my first trimester, mixed with terrible nausea for 16 weeks, but it all got better after that - now it's just 24/7 indigestion! But hopefully it will all be worthwhile shortly.

For those of you going soon, this was my trip:
    • Arrived in Athens Wednesday - saw Dr Nikos (stayed here: https://www.airbnb.com.au/rooms/1825066 - 10 mins walk to Dr N, 1 minute walk to metro and 3 stops to Syntagna, lots of restaurants/shops/supermarket within 2 mins walk)
    • Donor egg collection on Thursday
    • Friday DH and I caught the ferry to Santorini for 3 days
    • Flight back to Athens Monday evening
    • Transfer on Tuesday
    • Departed Athens on Wednesday
This was my first attempt at DE transfer after 4 unsuccessful IVF/ICSI rounds in Sydney. After my previous experiences I was unsure if it would work, but glad that it did...

Fingers crossed and much baby dust to all of your on your journeys...happy to share any further information that may assist other ladies with their planning and trips to Athens.

@Mablelina, welcome!! I'm Embryoland and Dr Nikos all the way lol. I'm currently in Athens, had my transfer yesterday. I have a one year old from donor eggs at home and also did a few cycles with my eggs that didn't work. This cycle has been great, no stress, Dr Nikos does all of that. Even with flying all the way from Australia with Bub it's still been easier than doing this at home for some reason. If these 2 don't take I have a few frosties so will come back to try again.
I did lots of googling and read all the posts on here and I knew that Dr Nikos was the way to go for me. Good luck!!
