Default Levlen - or any contraceptive pill question!

I am about to start the pill after many moons off
I don't know when to start! Today is the first day of my period
So I assume The best way to begin is today with a sugar pill
    Is this right ???
I plan to use other contraception for a month just I be sure so being covered is not my concern
It's about starting at the right spot
    Also
I got the generic brand and notice the pills are not shiny like the old style levlen

Are they bigger or are they both the same size tablet ?

Lots of info including a link to the leaflet (which advises how to use/side effects etc).

It will explain everything in the leaflet.
Best to start first day of period from the shaded section - this will likely be a sugar pill but could be an active pill as both are in the shaded section.
Generics spend less money on fancy sugar coating for the pills, that is why they are less shiny, but as they are tiny it shouldn't be too hard to swallow. All the important parts (active ingredients) have to meet very strict standards.
Call your pharmacy if you need more info

So if I start in the green section and soon after is an active
Won't I then get my next period earlier than 3 weeks? The leaflet to be honest is confusing

If you are starting today and you have your period you take the pill marked Saturday in the shaded section. This is what it says in the leaflet.

This may mean you might have a shorter/longer cycle than usual the first time.

If you still are not sure go to the pharmacist who can help you too.
