Default Premmie 36 weeker still in hospital

Our little bub was born 4 weeks early and is now 3 weeks and 2 days old. She's had a rough start and we are now at our 3rd hospital. It has now be confirmed that she has chronic lung disease that will heal with time. However they are now expecting her to be sent home with oxygen and possibly her nasal gastric tube. I was just wanting advice or hearing other parents stories who have also had there babies sent home on oxygen.
How long were they on oxygen for? How did you cope with it all? I also have a 2 1/2 year old at home. Thanks

    Sounds like a rough journey

I haven't got any experience with a baby sent home on oxygen, but I did have a premmie who spent the first 5 1/2 weeks of his life in hospital. It's tough

I hope someone else here can help.

Thank you. It really is tough, a rollercoaster of emotions everyday. But we just can't wait for her to be home with us & hopefully the oxygen situation won't be too bad.

I don't have any experience with a baby sent home on oxygen either but my third was a 36 weaker who spent unexpected time in SCN. I say unexpected because being 36+1 and all good vital signs and sucking reflex, she was not thought to need time in SCN. In fact, we were sent home after two normal nights in hospital. After one night at home we knew that she wasn't like our full term bubs. Long story short, we were readmitted and she spent two weeks in SCN with a nasal gastric tube until she turned the corner and came home.
Wishing you all the best, hope your little ones health improves quickly xx
