Default Help with 7 week scan interpretation

Hi Nattie, I've been meaning to read your journal and this thread for ages, finally remembered! Have everything crossed for you. Is it possible to find an obstetrician that does their own scan or a women's scan place where a dr actually does the scan? In my experience with loss and subsequent pregnancies and scans this is by far the least stressful option as you have a dr explaining everything to you as they are actually seeing it. For my last miscarriage I found an OB/GYN that specialized in early pregnancy and after 2 scans for my miscarriage at a speciality women's place that left me with questions she did a scan, turned the screen towards me explained everything she saw and how she knew it wasn't viable. I went back to her when I became pregnant again (this time viable/DS2) and she did the same. With Ds1 I had OB that did a scan every visit but would also send me to a women's scan place where an OB that specialized in sonography did my 'bigger' scans. Genuinely saved me from so much heartache having things properly done and explained to me while it was actually happening. Hopefully it's possible for you to find care like this.

@HollyGolightly81 do you mind letting me of your OB? I'm looking for exactly this kind of OB and require close monitoring in early pregnancy. Thanks

The one that specialized in early pregnancy was in London but for my first son (which was after a stillbirth) I saw Anthony Woodward, he's based at Freemason's in Melbourne and also delivers out of St Vincent's. Really, really love guy, very patient with all my anxieties. Downstairs from his office is WUME which is the women's ultrasound place where another OB did my scans, think is was Amanda Sampson?

Thanks for your post, I'm not sure how I missed it in my notifications. I did go to a specialist place for women's ultrasound. My OB said he doesn't usually scan in his rooms until further along as his machine isn't as good.

He did give me a referral for my next scan to be at the private hospital and he said they are quite good and will bulk bill - the last two have cost me $200 each out of pocket eek,

That's good about your next scan. I've just found that even with a specialty scan place, it been much better if an actual OB that specializes in sonography/early pregnancy is preforming the scan.
