    Default Help! progesterone levels IVF

Please help answer a couple of questions ladie! Trying to work out the standard...

What level of progesterone does your clinic like you to have post-transfer?

Does your clinic put a lot of trust in P4 affecting implantation and miscarriages?

What type and how many progesterone supplements do you take daily post transfer?

Does your clinic test P4 after transfer? If so, how often?

    Thanks in advance!

I was on progesterone pessaries, 3 x 400mg, from about five days prior to transfer.

Once I got my BFP my FS wanted to see my progesterone level over 30.

As I understand it, you must have decent levels of progesterone in order to support a pregnancy. Low levels can lead to bleeding and potentially MC.

At one point (around the 4 week mark) my levels dipped to 14 and I had a bleed. My dose was immediately increased to 4 x 400mg pessaries per day and within 2 days my levels increased to 92. I remained on the pessaries until I was 16 weeks along.

My clinic tested my levels twice as a standard. The first was done alongside my first HCG test, and the second one two days later. I was able to request subsequent tests in light of my low level of 14.

    Thanks for your response @Blossom74

My old clinic had me on 6x pessaries a day and my P4 was always around 65-95 but my new clinic only wants me on 2 x crinone so I'm worried it won't be enough!

Any other ladies out there to answer the questions above?!

I wouldn't be happy with that at all

Crinone is only 90mg of progesterone per stick. Pessaries are available in 100mg, 200mg and 400mg compounded doses.

Granted, I'm older and I needed all the help I could get, BUT .... you can't have too much progesterone support IMO. I'd be putting the foot down and demanding more.

Mine was similar, it fluctuated between 50-95.
Was on 2 pessaries a day until the first p4 test which was before my pregnancy test. Then weekly until week 8.
Every time it dropped they upped the progesterone, I ended up on 3x p4 400mg and 3x e2/p4 200mg until 12 weeks. DS is now 6 months old
I think my clinic was pretty proactive with the progesterone levels though compared to my first clinic where I was only on crinone for support. We were not successful through the first clinic.

Also are you doing FET or stim? I didn't need any progesterone support at all after my stim cycle but they still monitored weekly for the first 8 weeks (DD is nearly 3).
DS was a FET so everything had to be supported with meds.

Wazza likes levels to be over 30. I had a FET and was on 3 x 400mg p4 pessaries initially. My level was only 13 at first test and he nearly had a fit and upped me to 4 daily plus 2 x endometrin pessaries. As PP poster said.. Crinone is only 90 mg p4 and I would certainly not have made it to 25 weeks pregnant with only crinone. Eventually my p4 climbed to over 100 but was only after I had a major bleed and about 12 weeks. I started weaning off at about 14 weeks. I think it is important to have enough support if you have had repeated miscarriages or a history of low p4. Ask you specialist to test and discuss yr concerns.

Thanks for your replies ladies. My fertility issues include- hormonal imbalance (naturally really low) and ovulatory disfunction so I feel they should be loading me up with P4! When I asked about the crinone she said that whilst it says 90mg it's equivalent to a higher dose (maybe 150mg) of P4 pessaries.

Was yours a fresh or ivf cycle? @Blossom74

Mine is a stim cycle @rosey82 but I've always been on support for both stim and fet.

Can any other ladies shed light on their progesterone protocol for stim cycle?

My first pregnancy was a frozen embie. I was on Crinone and had a missed miscarriage at 8 1/2 weeks.

This current pregnancy (30 weeks along) was a fresh transfer, and I was loaded up with pessaries. So far so good. My body makes very little progesterone naturally so I'd never settle for anything less now

Hi ladies, may I jump into your thread to ask a related question. My clinic likes progesterone levels to be above 30. I had a fall from 137 to 80 within 4 days. Was initially on p4 pessaries 450mg/daily and was told to up it to 450mg twice a day. Just wondering when you call your fs office for advice on your blood results who do you speak to? I spoke to one of the nurses yesterday who seemed knowledgable but just wondering what you all did and who answered your questions.
