    Default Symptoms of silent reflux??

    Hi all,
I have a feeling that my ds2 who is 2 weeks old may have silent reflux.

My ds1 had reflux but used to vomit quite a lot, he was put on meds at 6 weeks.

Could those of you who have had a child with silent reflux please tell me what symptoms your child had and how old they were when you sought medical help?

    TIA

My dd had it. Symptoms were screaming for hours on end, arching her body and being completely rigid, lots of hiccups and coughing and 'chewing' from the sensation of burning at the back of her throat and absolutely hated laying down. She also slept terribly and wanted to feed constantly for hours and be miserable. This website has more details about it: http://www.reflux.org.au/information...ics-of-reflux/
My dd was started on losec suspension around 8 weeks. Before that the Paediatrician had suggested mylanta before each feed. The losec really helped with her discomfort and screaming.

Thank you! My ds1 was on loser until he was well into solids too.

Do you think it's worth taking ds2 to the doctors at this early an age?

I found zoton far more successful than losec this time.

With reflux babies, you can thicken their formula. You can add up to one teaspoon rice cereal per ounce. Or use Babies magic tea. This helps a great deal.

2 weeks is really young and I'll doubt they'll do anything at this stage, however I would still take him to the doctor so you can get the ball rolling. I took too long to get my dd diagnosed and by the time she was, she already associated laying down with pain, and she was 6 months old before I could put her down anywhere without her screaming because she just thought it was going to start hurting.

I ended up getting a script for losec off my OB. It helped a little but I don't think it's a high enough dose so I am going to try and get him into the GP this week. I've started using infant gaviscon as well and it seems to be helping heaps so I'm fairly sure it is reflux. He has also started vomiting so it's not silent reflux anymore.
