    Default Kindergarten question

4 year old kinder.. We're trying to work out what will suit our dd better.. 2 x 8 hour days per week, vs 3 x 5 hour sessions per week.. Does anyone have any experience with either and opinions on what worked or didn't work?? Our dd hasn't been in any long daycare, but is pretty adaptable. 2 long days will be easier for work etc, but not sure if that will be the best preparation for school...

I would choose 3 x 5 hour days to help manage fatigue. Both my kids have found kinder tiring.

I would do 3 x 5. It spreads it out a little more evenly over the week and they don't get so tired

Yep 3x5 here too especially as she hasn't been in care before and it's tiring for them. 5hrs is closer to a regular school day

DD started pre-prep at her school just before her 4th bday, she did a 5 day fortnight 8:40-3:20 each day without any problems. Hadn't done any daycare prior just a 2hr playgroup once per week.

I would go for the shorter days if at all possible. As others have said kindy is quite tiring.

We have 2 full school days. As of term 3 it will be 3 full school days.

DD has coped really well. Sometimes she's tired, but she has been loving it. Her kindy is part of a school, and I think it's great that the kids start and finish at the same time - makes it feel more like part of the school.
