    Default Nails after birth

    Hi ladies,

I wasn't quite sure which area to post hence in the general area.

So I had my second Bub in July. Since then, my nails have been super fragile. They break easy and bend back (which hurts so much!). Is this common? Is there something I should be doing? This didn't happen after my first.

    TIA

Has not happened to me but I would be thinking maybe a mineral deficiency?
Did you BF? Pregnancy & BF can really deplete your iron, calcium, magnesium etc. especially second and third pregnancies as the body can have a hard time building back up between babies.
Maybe a calcium and magnesium supplement to start and think about checking in with your GP for some general blood tests - iron, thyroid etc all the usual suspects.

I did bf but stopped at 5 months. I thought it might have been calcium but the others make sense too. Thanks!

I found my nails were much more brittle after each pregnancy and my hair constantly shedding (more so than the norm) so I upped my intake of zinc, and took some magnesium and that definitely helped.

Thanks! My hair has been falling out too but that was the same after my first. It has slowed thankfully!! But I think I might need to take some more vitamins!!!
