    Honestly, it never even occurred to me. I have only lived here 'permanently' since mid 2012 though so don't consider myself Australian.
    I will make an effort to take the kids once DD is older (DSD and DSS have never been either).
    My husband has never been to one, though his dad goes to the parade every year- he isn't Aussie at all but likes parades. I genuinely do not think he knows what it's for.

    I'll be a citizen when DD turns 3, give or take, so I'll start going then.

    I think it's pretty common for a lot of people that were in the war to not want to participate. Dp was telling me his grandfather used to always say 'let us forget'. Understandable considering what they must have gone through that some would want to just forget
    But I think it's important for us to acknowledge it all, even if only silently to ourselves, without the big fanfare, what they went through.
