    Default Finding My Cooking Mojo

My cooking has really been rubbish lately. It's just the same old stuff day in day out, I go through these phases and it gets so boring!

So I'm going to try something new at least once a week. Even if it's not particularly adventurous. So tonight I'm making chicken with a sort of mushroom sauce. I'm doing it all in a pot, here's the beginnings:

So it's basically chicken lovely legs browned with sliced onion, then add stock and mushrooms. I'll let it simmer for a while until it reduces a little and the chicken is cooked, then I'll add some cream so it's a bit like a stroganoff sauce. I hope it tastes ok!

I'm in the same boat, and throw a very restricted budget in on top. Will be watching to see what you come up with!

    Ditto.

Well, maybe not "very" restricted, but reasonably so.

    Finished product:

It was actually really tasty! Very basic ingredients so I think it was quite cheap (although I haven't added it up), you could do it with drumsticks too which would make it cheaper. I added peas because my kids like them.

I'm also trying to reduce the amount we spend on food and trying not to waste anything. I'm hoping this helps me get creative! We recently went down to one income and have the added cost of DSs therapies so trying to tighten the budget a bit.

Good thread idea! I'm following for inspiration. I've lost my cooking mojo too, I'm pregnant and the thought of food makes me sick at the moment but I still have to put dinner on the table for DH and DD. Last week was pretty much frozen fish/ fish fingers and steamed veg every night

I find when seasons are changing it's hard to get into a good cooking routine as we forget what 'works'. I'm looking forward to shepherds pie soon!!
