Default Has anyone had success on First or Second Cycle of Donor IUI?

My partner and I are in a same sex relationship and beginning our first cycle of IUI in May. Would love to hear some success stories from IUI. Our fertility specialist is very positive that we will get a good result as I have no fertility issues. We just don't want to get our hopes up to much as we have had a lot of friends that have had a hard time conceiving. Just wanting to know if anyone has been lucky enough first or second attempt?

I'm in the same boat as you! I just had my first round of iui a couple of weeks ago and am waiting for the results next week.
The statistics for iui aren't amazing- it's about a 10-15% chance per cycle overall, but that also includes people with medically diagnosed fertility issues, so I'd like to think that we've got a slightly better chance than that, but of course there's no guarantees in life.

I'm 14 days past the procedure. Haven't done a home pregnancy test as I was taking hcg injections after the procedure- so there's a good chance of a false positive. Period is due today but nothing yet, so fingers crossed but I'll hang on for my blood test on the 27th.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for yours as well, would be great (and much cheaper) if it works first go!

Would love to hear how you go. Hopefully all good news. What clinic are you with and what state are you in?

Hi guys, I'm in the same boat!!

My girlfriend and I are wanting to start the process of trying for a baby and I've been doing a lot of research today.

A little disheartened to see that there could be up to a two year wait list for donor sperm (I'm in perth), did you have to wait that long?

Would be keen to hear about your experiences, if you're comfortable sharing of course

    Congrats and all the best

At 37 I didn't like my chances of waiting 2 years for donor sperm inWA so went to QFG in Brisbane for no wait sperm. First round of ivf was a success for me.. But 6 more rounds of ivf and donor eggs to fall pregnant with number 2. It depends on how long you have to wait in WA... And your age.. Your individual clinic wait.. To whether I would go interstate. Good luck.

Tamzy, We are in Melbourne and going through Monash. At this stage there is no wait here. There are limited selections available but they are available.

I know if you go to Queensland or NSW you have access to Donors from overseas. Its very frustrating that different states have different rules in regards to Donors and access to them.

Happy to answer any questions I am able to to help you out. I know its hard to find information and support in Australia for same sex couples.

Thank you so much for the replies ☺️

I would be tempted to go interstate if it meant no wait time. Do you think it's practical? In terms of scans and blood tests and counselling etc? Would I have to actually move states for a period of time?
