Default The story behind your wedding date

So my partner and I have decided to get married next year. We already decided on a winter wedding but I can't pick a date.

What do you factor in when deciding on a wedding date?

I picked my wedding date before I ever even met my DH! It came from a stupid "prediction" a bored high school friend did one day, she said I'd get married on April 14th 2002. Well that didn't happen, as I wasn't even 21 by that date! However I always remembered the April 14th part, and a few years later I was looking at what year that date next fell on a Saturday, and it was April 14th 2012. Which was also the night of the 100th anniversary of the sinking of Titanic, and I've always been fascinated by that event. So I decided that if I happened to be engaged to someone before that date, then that would be when my wedding would be. As luck would have it, my DH proposed in May 2011, so I got my desired date in the end.

We narrowed it down to the month we preferred and then took into account dates that suited close family etc.

When our family was able to come over, DF was able to get time off work and when the venue was free. Nothing romantic about it!

We had one date set then changed our mind on location and brought it forward 4 months. Cant remember why really. I knew I wanted an even number though but didnt really care about the actual date that much

We planned it for summer, far enough away from Christmas/school holidays so guests could come, but close enough so that I was still on uni holidays. We also made sure school holidays were over for our honeymoon! That was as romantic as it got.

We chose the month because it was a nice time of year and school holidays (lots of interstate guests/family on my side). Then the specific date was picked because it wasn't the Easter weekend! Also happens to be the day after my mum and dads wedding anniversary, so that was a nice touch!

We chose end of summer so it would be warm but not too hot, and I wanted a Saturday so it would be easier for guests.
It was an absolute scorcher on the day.

We had to avoid harvest, sowing and spraying for DH and calving and desexing months for me.
Also wanted a weekend that fell in both the Tas and SA school holidays.

We did that perfectly but MIL still *****ed because it was shearing time. DH doesn't shear anymore and they lived 2 hours from the venue and they don't work Saturdays so they can just suck it up.
