Or something like this.. wouldn't it be great if we can kick out all the people who hit their spouses in this country? I don't see how an immigrant is any more likely to do this than a 'true blue' Aussie bloke.. (or sheila!)
It would, but not importing it in families where it's just the done thing and will breed on through generations, helps!
Not that I think these changes will help at all.
    Wait and see I suppose.

Interesting to see some comments around Fb on news sites.
Some people a bit peeved they have to wait longer on PR visa before they can get citizenship.
Others very happy that their ex's won't be able to stay due to DV issues.
That's another way of looking at it.

I do think it's a bit hypocritical that there's one set of values expected to be expressed by those wishing to become citizens and yet if you are born here you can express whatever views you like! Seems like a lot of trouble just to target a certain religion when we have plenty of 'home grown' DV situations!
(Yes I agree it's good to stop people bashing each other but the hypocrisy is still there!)

    It's all bullsh!t really though isn't it.
If he was targeting a certain religion there would be a crack down right here in Australia, there's not.
It's all talk to make it appear he's doing something just to win the support he has been losing at a rapid pace.

I guess they have always been asking inane questions. I did mine nearly 20 years ago. I went to the office for my interview and I was given a situation of sitting in my living room and seeing an enemy tank go down my street. What would I do?

They don't ask questions like that now.
I've done my test recently, and found the whole interview/test process simple & surprisingly quick

Phony I said I would go out with my baseball bat and hit it. I then said, actually becoming Australian means I would get a cricket bat and hit it with that. He then asked me a few questions re dates and that was it (in amongst double checking my paperwork).

Calstar glad the weird questions have stopped and yes I also found it quick. I took the day off work and I was only in there about 30 or 40 minutes.

Will there be a question. Is it ok to hit your male partner? Men experience domestic violence too. Makes me ragey that they get so neglected

From what I've read it's a domestic violence question aimed at everyone not just at men.
