I remember having a debate with my grade six teacher in which I asked awkward questions about the garden of Eden story- like why didn't Adam and Eve get eaten by raptors? If they were around before people were around then they must have been sharing with the dinosaurs... what did they do during the ice age? How could all of humanity have come from Adam and Eve when they just as two sons and one of them killed the other one? I was made to sit outside as punishment for asking inappropriate questions.
RE was a rather poor fit for me as a child lol.
I used to question everything in scripture because I didn't believe. My scripture teacher was the Minister of the church and was so happy that I engaged in the lessons that he asked my grandparents (they attended the church) if I could do a reading at the next Sunday service 😂

    Don't classify that as religion - that's a cult.
I'm familiar with some of the Brethrens in the area that Delirium is speaking of, and I have to agree that it's a cult.

Yep they are a cult. They have somewhat moved into the 21st century (only in the last decade have they watched TV, they now have mobiles) but they still have fundamentalist beliefs.

Frankly I think the schools should stop getting govt funding. Teaching kids there is a God amongst the Big Bang and evolution? A-ok even though I'd never send my child to one. having the tax payer fund impressionable minds being taught evolution is untrue and the world was created 6000 years ago? Nope sorry. That's not education, that's blind indoctrination.

    Yes 😂
Only because my grandparents were so proud as it wasn't common to have kids do readings, and they thought it meant I believed in God.

    No science speak.
I could grasp what he was saying in that very easily, but anything a bit more complex in language and I will switch off.
I listened to the whole 2.5hr podcast it was really interesting. A lot of the stuff he talked about was in the lecture I watched that I previously mentioned.

I didn't hear him say anything about all the stuff we know about the universe and the speed of light was wrong though. Maybe I missed it or maybe he said it in a roundabout way..?

I wish I knew more about science! This stuff is freakin fascinating, and like he says, a lot more mysterious and magical than the concept of a divine being/creator/religion.

Interestingly, he makes a statement that religion is an evolutionary necessity.

Edit: religion WAS an evolutionary necessity.
