Thanks ladies x If all goes according to plan my parents will be looking after DD and I'll just have DH with me. I had a c-section last time so it was only him allowed in the theatre with me anyway. We told a little white lie to our families that I was last on the list for the day so I possibly wouldn't be out of theatre before visiting hours were over (I was actually second on the list). That gave us the afternoon and evening with DD all to ourselves which was wonderful. We started getting visitors the next morning, but it gave me a chance to rest and be showered etc and start to get a handle on breastfeeding before we had company.

Just got initial results and Squeak is clear of the most common chromosomal issues! Still a week before detailed results are in, but it's a good start. We've still got a lot more to go through, but very relieved to be over the first hurdle.

With DD I just had DH and I in the room. We hardly saw the midwife, it was very peaceful. We were living in Syd at the time so my parents flew up the day before I went into labour luckily. My contractions started around 7am and I told them to go back to their hotel room (we were in a one bedder so couldn't fit them) around 1pm as I wanted to call DH to come home. I was home at this point. I think DH told them that we were going to the hospital around 8pm. At some point in the night they packed some newspapers and drove to the hospital car park to wait. I had no idea. So after DD arrived (3:30am) I waited about an hour before I texted them. They were in the hospital room in about 10minutes. My sister said they'd be in there quick but I had no idea they would camp outside the hospital I was still naked under a blanket from my delivery (was in the shower soooo much) and DD was feeding. I was surprised by how much I didn't care.
This time around it looks like we'll be opting for an induction so hopefully if all goes to plan we'll be able to drop DD off with my parents (as we're in the same state now) and again have DH and I in the room. I think I'll tell them a later starting time too so that there's less time they're sitting there thinking about it. Didn't think about DH just bringing DD in. I guess I'd be fine with my parents bringing them in. Maybe giving us 10 mins to do the intros before they came in. I don't see them waiting too long. Especially when it's a very rare boy baby in our girl dominated family, one they don't know the gender of yet.

I've had a cabbage patch kid sitting in the cupboard waiting for the right time to give to DD. I bought it last year but didn't think she was old enough yet to enjoy it. I think I'll use that as the present from the baby. I've also been told to buy a few cheapo $2 toys to keep wrapped up to give to DD every time they visit so she has something to play with and hopefully make visiting the hospital that bit more fun and not just about the baby.
I'm going to get a present from DD. We might make a card together and wrap it up together and put it in my hospital bag, ready for baby.
It all sound very orderly and planned but who knows how it's going to to all turn out in the end

Yes more to come today, but our appt isn't until 3pm this afternoon and I'm not really sure what to expect. From things I've read they'll probably do another ultrasound and possibly an MRI as well as talking with the specialists, but we haven't actually been told anything apart from the professors name that will be handling our case. DH has just taken DD to daycare so I can get ready in peace. We're going to the movies to kill some time and hopefully take our minds off things before the appointment. Since the initial results came back clear yesterday I've been feeling so much more positive and haven't been crying like I was a few days ago thinking the worst is going to happen. I'm very conscious we still may not end up with the best possible outcome, but I feel like we could work towards that now rather than preparing for worst case scenario. It could be a different tune I'm singing this evening, but for now I'm allowing myself to have hope.
