I love that idea @ELM13 of DH bringing in DS rather than a relative. Its such an important bonding time for the family and siblings to have together without others. Totally pinching that idea.

My problem is MIL will be watching DS and will turn up uninvited early with DS as an excuse.

    Default IVF Babies due Sep/Oct/Nov 2017 #2

@Wishnhope my in laws may drive DS to the hospital too (can't trust my grandmothers driving haha) but there will be strict instructions for DH to go out and bring him in alone first. I agree, I think it's so important for DS and for us to have that initial bonding time. Then when everyone comes in, it's gonna be madness and I don't want him to be pushed aside either.
Considering whether or not to get DS a present from the baby as well.. thoughts??

So true that little one would probably get pushed aside, not helping the whole jealously thing at all!

Ive heard of sibling gifts one from baby to toddler and one from toddler to baby. They suggest a baby doll, but not sure DH would be down with that. What were you thinking?

Im glad your inlaws would be ok with that. My MIL wouldnt just drop DS off she'd insist on staying til she was allowed in and Id want us to have at least a few hours of close family time.

We just had DH and I last time and will probably do the same again. @Wishnhope your MIL sounds a bit like my Mum! She lives in another country though so that makes it easier! My MIL will be watching DS and as much as I love the idea of DH bringing DS alone it might be a bit awkward as she will be staying with us. I just hope I don't go into labour before she gets here or I may be having this Bub by myself while DH and DS wait in the waiting room!!

@Wishnhope it'll just be DH and I again this time. We whatsapp'd the whole birth last time so the grannies (who live in South Africa) were very much a part of it as it was happening. We'll do that again this time. I'm stressing a bit as to what to do with DS. We don't have family here and if DS2 comes early and in the middle of the night like DS did, what the hell do I do with DS???? It'll be another c-section and of course it's planned for a day Surgery but it didn't happen as planned last time so who knows.

@Zimbaby we are in exactly the same boat! My labour was quite quick last time and they said next time will be quicker. If it happens quickly or in the night we won't have anything to do with DS either. My MIL is coming to stay but if Bub is early she won't be here.

I'm going to have DH, my Mum and my MIL. I feel sorry for my MIL because she has all boys (7 boys) so she's never gotten to see her grandchildren be born. Her sons partners always invite their own mother, while she sits in the waiting room. Which is fine, that's their choice, but me and my MIL are quite close so I couldn't do that to her. The only thing I'm going to say is that I don't want anyone else in the waiting room. Our mothers will probably be pretty tired after the birth and leave fairly soon after having a little cuddle. I don't want to have other family members waiting for their turn. Depending on what time of day he/she is born, I want at least a few hours to breastfeed/shower/freshen up/nap. I'm extremely self conscious so I wouldn't want visitors without having a chance to shower/brush my hair
