What a great view. Not! I don't get an open ensuite a either. Who wants any toilet smells in their bedroom?? Our old house had a small ensuite with a toilet. Even with the door, the smells weren't pleasant! Our current house has a toilet with a door inside the ensuite. Much better.

This is what I was referring to along with the absence of door. I find it bizarre. Nice sight watching your wife in her glory in the shower. Not so much seeing them taking a dump

Another vote for butlers pantry - I just don't understand the point.

Living in a cramped house I'm dreaming over half the things people have issues with lol. I could so do with a theatre room and second living areas, and I'm so desperate for a second bathroom that I'd even go for an open ensuite

Walk in robe - I currently have one with lots of storage and hanging space and down one end boxed cabinets to show off shoes and bags.

But.....the dust....the frikken dust is enough to do my head in. Dust on clothes, bags and shoes. It's so annoying to have to dust an extra area.

I don't mind having the walk in element, but I definately will be installing wardrobe doors in my next house

Default Spin Off: what room in a house is 'stupid'

Our ensuite doesn't have a door..... but the toilet has its own room.

That was a deal breaker for me.... I found lots of houses I liked but that you couldn't block of the toilet.

So in the end we went full custom by using pieces from dif houses and builders.IMG_1492483434.638158.jpg

Ps ignore the niche size. It's a draft version and was wrong

any combined toilet/bathrooms. Ensuite or otherwise. STUPID! Mind you, I'm in a tiny 3 bedroom house with only one toilet and bathroom, so I'd happily have an ensuite with a toilet in it just to have an extra one! If I had one, there would be an absolute ban on pooping in the ensuite toilet. YUUUUUCK.

When we buy soon, I want an ensuite. So sick of fighting for the loo! lol And I'm the same. Toilet *must* be in it's own room not in the bathroom. I was showing DH this house on realestate.com and saw it had a claw tub bath on gorgeous tiles (my dream)..... then saw there was a loo a metre from it. urrmmm no. Pass!

Wow .. can't believe how many people feel so strongly about having the toilet in the same room as the bathroom! I can understand it a bit if it was your only toilet - you don't want people coming in when you're in the bath, etc - but when you do have another toilet somewhere else, i much prefer having a toilet in the same room as a basin, at least, so you can do everything (eg wash hands, get tampons from cupboard, whatever) before leaving the bathroom.

Default Spin Off: what room in a house is 'stupid'

My dad just came out on holidays and thought it bizarre how toilets are seperate here and not within bathrooms....he said by not having a basin you're transferring germs opening and closing doors to go wash your hands once you've wiped your bottom he did have a bit of a point when I thought about it!
    Lanabananah that's our ensuite exactly!
I don't see the point of butlers pantry either. We just built and preferred a larger kitchen

We just renovated our main bathroom and opened up the wall to the separate toilet, as I'm not a fan of a separate toilet! But we do have an ensuite and 3rd toilet in the laundry so privacy is never a problem!
