    Default IVF/ FET May/June 2017

For what it's worth, I said the same thing. My daughter is now 5 1/2. However, the age gap might be a blessing in disguise, because I will have just as much time to give to the next baby in the daytime as i did to her. My husband and his brother are 8 years apart due to IVF difficulties as well, and they have the best relationship. Kids can still be close and grow up well together without the "ideal" age gap. Xx

I've been googling frantically, as you do, and there's all these women saying they've had 20+ follicles or 20 collected and they did the transfer and everything was fine (and to drink lots of gatorade, apparently).
10 on one side doesn't seem so dramatic as far as googling, especially since not all of them were well sized. Christ, I'm going to go insane before the results come back tomorrow.

Has anyone had over 10 follicles on one side, and what happened? Did they cancel, did you get to transfer?

My sister and I have a 6 year age gap, so I've always been super critical of it. We never had any common interests, she was always too young for my stuff or me too old for hers, I was 18 before we actually had something we could do and enjoy together. We don't even talk anymore, really. We see each other at family functions and that's it.
And yeah, on the other hand I know so many people with 4, 6, 8+ age gaps who are the best of friends. But I think I'm too afraid of my own history repeating.

I had 26 eggs collected in March, 24 of which were mature, and I did get to the transfer with no problem. In the end my transfer was indeed cancelled though, but it has nothing to do with the number of eggs collected. It was due to the incompetency of the doctor on the roster who couldn't put the catheter through my slightly tilted cervix

My own FS did a mock transfer on me later and she got the catheter in under 5 minutes with no problem. So although I'd like to think that all doctors are qualified, some really are better than the others. For that reason once I use up all three frozen embryos I'm going to switch to a clinic where both egg collection and transfer will be done by your own FS. I can do without the stress from not knowing whether the doctor on roster will be competent enough.

And my current clinic doesn't offer IMSI, which we need for DH's extremely poor morphology. That's another reason why I want to switch.

I was actually surprised that I had produced 24 mature eggs considering my AMH is low for my age. I didn't have much OHSS symptoms after egg collection either, but then everyone is different. @Jeshika Good luck. I think you'll be fine

I don't know how many were on each side but I got 19 eggs in my last retrieval. The result of that cycle turns 2 next week. So it might be okay.

You'll want to drink lots of gatorade or powerade and get lots of protein (I used sustagen) to lessen chances of fluid in your ovaries after retrieval.

I also just had a collection and 15 eggs collected 12 of which were mature... they did say as follicles were so big I might need to freeze all but we are going ahead with he transfer. We had 8 fertilized (my partner has azoospermia so ICSI and the sperm aren't exactly healthy little swimmers so less take) I'm also a possible over stimulation with kissing ovaries so you should be fine x

    @Jeshika

    I have polycystic ovaries (PCOS).

I had 18 eggs collected in one transfer and it wasn't a problem but I remember thinking I could feel my ovaries and having some discomfort.

    We swapped clinics.

In early 2016 I had an egg collection cancelled because I had 15 in each ovary. They were looking at a possible 30 eggs.

Initially they said it would be my decision whether to go ahead or not and I wanted to as I really didn't feel sick. Then after consultation with other specialists the doctor said it was too dangerous and he wasn't happy to go ahead. So it was cancelled. We reduced the medication for the next cycle.

Relying on bloods to check you're ok to go ahead sounds normal and I don't think it's unusual to do an egg collection but freeze all.

Honestly, I think every case is different. In my situation, I trusted that doctor and it was his call.

As for the age difference thing... I have been told I'm infertile by doctors three times in my life for three different reasons. Like many women on forums like this, I have worried about whether I will ever have children. The age difference between my dream children has never been part of the conversation. Other than that, I can't comment.

I hope your bloods come back with good news and you can go ahead without issue.
