Hi all just signed up to bubhub today. Looking at egg donor option after a couple of unsuccessful IVF attempts. I am finding there is so much info available that it is a little overwhelming. I have been given the names of a doctor in Athens and a clinic in Cape Town. But there are many things to decide and choose from. Obviously I want the best chance of success and preferably at a reasonable cost and not drawn out over a long time as I work full time. Hoping for recommendations of good clinics/doctors. Got an excellent one from a friend of a friend for Prague only to find out that it is illegal to treat single women in Czech Republic so that shut that option down. I also need to use donor sperm as well. Any advice would be great! Thanks in advance.

Head on over to the over 40's ttc thread and there you will find threads for donation at all of the different places. Even if you are younger, you can still read the comments and get a lot out of it. If using doner egg and doner sperm, you are then after a donor embryo, which is cheaper and wont be drawn out. You will likely have scans at home and medication to make your lining thick, then just head over. I'm not sure what city you are in, but the local doctor you choose will make a difference. The girls will be able to give you full recommendations. Embryoland (awful name we know) in Greece is one of the most popular. I would like to be doing that but my husband is not keen.

There is also a 'Greece' and 'South Africa' thread. Both have a heap and I mean a heap of information, have a read through both of them. I think Spain is another option- although I didn't look into that. Reading the threads will help in your decision making. My partner and I chose SA and found out yesterday we're pregnant. Couldn't be happier!
Best wishes x

Thanks jellybeen
We went to Cape Fertility Clinic and via the SA thread I chose Dr Matebese. (I think there are about 4 doctors and all are good, I just went with 'gut' feeling). She was wonderful. We used my partners sperm but they do have a big list of sperm donors too.

Thanks Jamel. That is the clinic and doctor my specialist in Melbourne recommended. I am not so keen to spend the lengthy time in Cape Town though as the info she sent indicated it would be about 16 days there. Is that how long it took you?

We spent 15 days... But if you have donor egg and sperm, you can leave a bit later if you get your lining scan here & start meds here. Then you might get away with 4-7 days instead.

Good luck Jellybeen. I've been researching overseas clinics since December (while I tried my final two rounds of ivf with my own eggs and both failed)... I've read everything about Spain, US, Greece and Cape Town. I've decided that Cape Fertility offers the best option and location and price for me. The US and Spain are great but a lot more expensive. Greece is fab but just a bit further. And I've also chosen Dr Matebese - although she doesn't know it yet. She was great to communicate with. The clinic also has provided plenty of useful information. All the best!

Thanks for the extra info about Dr Matebese. Still making decisions. Good luck with your treatment Chmeile. When do you think you will go ahead with Cape Fertility?
