But if an opinion is based on misinformation and the poster isn't willing to listen to and consider the facts, then no, their opionion does not need to be respected as their opinion is factually wrong. Its then that they cry bullying, cliques, etc. When that's not generally the case. Its just that most posters here base their opinions on facts and are trying to educate and provide facts to those that are misinformed.

    That's just my opinion though
    One thousand times this!

Fact/stats based ones I assume but then I have seen the same tactics thrown at people (myself included) when we don't share the same opinions in threads on topics where stats just don't come into it, they're more of a personal nature.
Just looking for clarification is all, I must not frequent the threads you're speaking of.
I believe misinformation/false facts came into the threads you're thinking of.

I'm glad we don't have that here anymore.

At the end of the day, it's a parenting forum, so what we're seeing these days is normal and expected to me. I'm sure there's plenty of other forums that aren't parenting based to discuss world issues.
I agree with this. I've been around for about 6 years and I remember one of my first posts when I was expecting DD1 I innocently asked people's opinions on whether to go Public or Private. My god did that thread explode. It got shut down within about 20 mins if I remember correctly and some awful things were said. As a new member it really upset me and it was a long time before I posted again. I'm glad I stuck around because it had been an amazing resource while I navigate raising my children but I can understand if people would have easily been scared off back then which is a shame. It's a much friendlier place these days.

Having said that I do enjoy a good debate/ discussion thread but I don't like it when they turn personal against individual members. It makes people not want to participate in those threads when they think they might be personally attacked for having 'the wrong' opinion.

I have imo and the opinions of others been bullied on this site hence why I don't post any controversial , debatable or discussion threads. It's not worth it!
