In all honesty, and I've always loved you Atropos and Del, but I'm a bit over these 'the hub sucks now, everyone's so sensitive, in the good ol' days' threads that pop up every month or two. Why continue to come back then if we are all so boring or sensitive? Yes we can learn heaps from different views, but I think many of us got tired of the constant bickering and I know for me, I am genuinely finding the world quite upsetting at the moment, since having kids I find so much upsetting, and I just want to pop on chat or whinge about sleep deprivation.

But as everyone always says, if you're so bored with the current threads on the hub then start one on a topic you want to discuss. But chances are that many of us will actually agree with you so there won't be much debate.

Which is ridiculous. Yes threads sometimes got nasty, but more often than not people had a spat, then found some middle ground and went on to another thread where they agreed. Disagreement and honest advice is no longer seen as a healthy interesting thing, it's met with histronics. It's sad really, because some of the women I locked horns with I actually respect quite a bit. bc I don't see disagreement as bad.
Yeah a lot of the debate sort of threads recently would have nastiness that started spilling out into other threads.

I come to bh to escape so would rather not get into debates.

I think people are generally nicer these days. We are more tolerant of differences, so while there is still debate, it's more like 'I respect your choice. This is the choice I made for my family', rather than 'you're so stupid, I cant believe you would even do something like that'. I've been around the hub a long time (changed usernames/ new profile a few years ago). I'm happy with the feel of the place now - but feel free to come in and stir some sh!t if you need something to do It might not raise the same reaction that it has in the past.

Alot of people started thinking why bother replying in a debate thread because if you werent part of the more well known group most of the time what you had to say just went ignored.

I enjoy the debate threads as I would often learn alot from them but wouldnt participate.

The way the hub is now is great and a few ladies have been so helpful when my anxiety has tried to stop me doing things irl.

I guess I come back bc I've been here so long now. Logging onto BH over the years has been second nature like logging onto FB. I'm certainly not wanting threads full of bickering and nastiness. Just threads that make me think, even if I disagree. Some days I'm exhausted and more interested in fluff threads, there is nothing wrong with those, or wanting to contribute to them. It's more people being overly sensitive the moment people don't agree with them or tell them what they want to hear.

I have started a few threads that might be considered 'controversial' in the last few years. I'm not bagging the Hub out. Just lamenting over how the place was and wishing we hadn't moved so far into the fluff direction.

I have to agree that a lot of it has to do with one member, but I'm sure there's more to it.

Myself, I used to get involved in all those threads, I love a good debate. These days, I can't be bothered. Between 2 kids, evening shifts and attempting to get some sleep, I find the whole thing has moved on before I can make a point. I'll generally read along liking posts now.

I never get involved with threads that are too debatable as I find they quickly become b*tchy - some people become keyboard warriors; typed words get taken the wrong way and people make judgements about others whom they don't really know. I don't come online for conflict and negativity - plenty of that in our lives already!

I come on BH for the advice and friendly threads as a bit of an escape, and I do think it's a shame that debatable topics can't be discussed more amicably.

Btw, I go give up chocolate forever but not cheese!! Especially triple cream Brie!
