Default When to Book Morphology Scan?

When is the best time to book this scan?

I'm a little confused as my GP refers to it as the 20 week scan, the hospital has referred to it as the 19-22 week scan and I often see it referred to online as the 18-20 week scan.

Is there an 'ideal' time to book it in. Obviously quite anxious to get it done asap (we want to find out the gender) - but don't want to book it in too early if there is an advantage to having it done later.

I had mine bang on 21 weeks thanks to the Christmas break. I was guided by the scan place I went to, which is a specialist obstetrics/Gynae ultrasound place. They said it was better to go in at 21 weeks than 18 weeks (the week before Christmas).

I had mine at 18.5 weeks but in hindsight would have liked to do it closer to 20.

Same. My specialist ultrasound centre would only book them at 21 weeks.

Call the radiology clinic where you intend to get it done and ask. Ours prefer later ie 20/21 weeks rather than earlier 18/19 the baby is more developed anz easier to see any development issues

My last pregnancy I was 20 weeks to the day. But the baby was facing the wrong way and I wasnt able to find out the gender!!! My best friend spent her whole pregnancy being told she was having a girl.... painted the nursery pink, bought pink things, imagine her shock when it was a BOY. So if you're told it is a boy, chances are it is accurate, but if they say girl, they can be wrong. lol

DH said he wouldn't believe it till the birth as he had heard if a few people who got told the wrong gender...(i knew she was a girl all along) 1st of july came & yep, she was a girl 😊 & is very much a daddys girl

I went at 19 weeks on the dot. There's no way I'd go later. Our son's morph scan revealed fatal abnormalities and we terminated the pregnancy as a result. By the time the 19 week scan happened, the results of an amnio plus a second scan to confirm the horrifying news, I was 22 weeks. I still had to give birth but by 24 weeks you need to get 'the needle' and I think not having needed that saved my sanity. So I wouldn't go any later than 19 weeks for a morph.

Thanks for all the opinions. Will give the radiology place a call this week and find out when they will let me come in.
