    Default Ear Infection

DS (7) had a bad cold last week and yesterday started with an ear infection he was in pain for about 4 hours yesterday morning and now it just feels blocked. Low grade fever yesterday arvo no temp today. Went to the gp yesterday and were given AB's should I give them to him or wait and see how he is tomorrow? It's not bothering him. I hate giving AB's if they're not needed.

I'd give him the antibiotics now not wait another day. Ds 2 and myself have been so sick since the middle of last week and it started as just a cold but by Saturday he looked like death and warmed up. Off to the gp again and we got antibiotics but gp said don't start til Monday, I waited 1 day and he was so much worse i started him on them astat. He's only just getting now same for me. Ds is 9months this coming week. I think if I had waited 2 days we would of ended up in hospital

Was it a clear infection? Or just red?

If it was definitely more than red I would start the AB's now.

Also has he had an ear infection before? Is/was there head/sinus pain? I have had ear pain from my sinus before.

Both ears were red, we've decided to give them to him as it's in both ears and he's been unwell for over a week now. He's not had ear infections before, the pain in his ear woke him up in the early hours of Saturday. No pain now but he's looked off for days.
