I worked in childcare when I was pregnant with my oldest DD who is now 12.

Chicken Pox went through the centre as it was at the beginning of the vaccination being offered. The GP did a blood test to check my immunity to chicken pox which was all fine.

I have no immunity to chickenpox and am currently pregnant. There is chicken pox confirmed at my girls kindy so I have been exposed. I had to go straight to emergency at my hospital to get a blood test to check whether or not I had it. I'm waiting for my results still but if they come back positive then there is an injection they can give to help lessen the severity.

Sounds like you are both doing the right thing by seeking medical help fingers crossed and know that just because you/ they were exposed doesn't mean that they will catch it

    Default Chickenpox after being immunised?

Ds1 is vaccinated and has been exposed a few times as there have been cases at his nursery but he has not caught it. Like Michelle, we are in london as well where most kids aren't vaccinated.

Have you had CP before Jaq? I would assume you're ok because you would be immune?

@HollyGolightly81, yes i have has CP before... so hoping i am immune. I don't hold my MMR immunity though despite multiple vaxes, so hoping it's not a wider problem with my immunity.

I was working in child care when pregnant with DS (6 years ago) and the whole kinder (including some siblings) went down with chicken pox. All of the kinder children had been vaccinated. Most were very mild cases. I ended up having to having nearly 2 months off work due to the risk of me catching it even though I had had it as a child and had some immunity.

I was exposed to the child that first had it in the days prior to the spots coming out and thankfully I never caught it.

    Good luck!

My DD is vaccinated and still got chicken pox - but it was really mild.

she got a few spots and that was all. No fever or anything and the spots cleared up pretty quickly.
