Default Situations - ok or not ok?

    1. Leaving newborn in car alone at night while going into chemist briefly.

    2. Allowing 2yr old to play (alone no siblings) unsupervised in unfenced front yard in suburbia for 5-10 minutes. Minimal car traffic but high pedestrian traffic area.

    3. Not calling out for, or following 3yr old in large department store when they wander out of sight (alone, no siblings).

You could be charged for the first one. So that's a "No" from me. I feel guilty leaving my 3.5 year old in car when getting petrol.

Unfenced? Um no. What if a stray dog runs in and attacks the kid? Or any other random person for that matter?

My 3.5 year old runs around department stores and I'm forever calling out as it scares the be Jesus out of me!! She loves hiding.........

Possibly the first one - I live in a very small town with a tiny pharmacy & can park right out the front. It's literally about 3 metres from my car door to the front counter, & I can see and hear the car at all times. Really similar situation to paying for petrol in a small petrol station. So I wouldnt feel bad about popping in to the pharmacy while my baby was asleep in the car - but then again, I have a capsule so would probably just bring the baby in with me.

The other two - no, never.

Not ok with any. But in saying that DS runs away from me all the time at certain shops. I may not yell out to him but I try and keep an eye on where he went (he also has favourite places to go so easy to find. Like the toy section).
