    Default Pregnancy test recall!!!

    For the non-clickers:

ALMOST half the home pregnancy tests available in Australia have been pulled from the market after pregnant women received negative results using the kits.

"After being contacted by the regulator to provide information on the devices, nine suppliers withdrew their products from sale rather than undergo testing. Another two were removed from the ARTG by the TGA for being improperly included."

So.. I am a month late. Just got a weird version of AF this week. Waiting to see how it develops. I took a test when i was a week and a bit late and it came back negative. After hearing about this recall I'm now considering following up with a gp just to be sure.

I want to know which ones have been voluntarily withdrawn. I'm off to the shop this arvo to check it out. I find it suspicious that online sites selling these recalled tests don't state that they are recalled they just say out of stock. I would have thought that was against the law. A national recall notice is meant to be displayed in full view.

I think it is terrible that they are able to pull their products from the shelves in order to avoid having them independently tested. They should be named and shamed in my opinion. They make so much money from advertising these tests as being super sensitive and able to detect pregnancy early so that those who are desperately trying to conceive buy tests every month before their periods are even late. I hate to even think how much $$$ I have spent on tests over the years. I already feel like I am being taken advantage of to some extent so the least these companies can do is provide a product that actually lives up to the claims that they are making. I think it is pretty appalling!

That's a shame, I've always found First Response to be a great product, but a false negative would be potentially dangerous (being pregnant but not knowing you were and then making choices based on that...)
