Default 3 year old with mouth ulcers

Hi. My 3 year old (turned 3 in Feb) has not been well the last 2 1/2 days. Very mild fever (37.5c) and was complaining of sore front teeth. And was unsettled most of the night. We took her to the doctor and she said she was 'fine' and there was 'nothing wrong with her'. Last night I discovered a large ulcer under her tongue. There may be more (although not sure as she won't let me have a good look). Does anyone have any suggestions for treatment? I was wondering if she could drink something? I've tried Bonjela but she doesn't like the taste or the feeling of it and gets quite upset. Thanks

Are they ulcers or could it be hand foot and mouth?

I think the temperature and mouth ulcers sound like Hand foot and mouth too.

I'd be giving pain relief, bonjela or similar and encourage fluids. And keep away from other children as highly contagious.

Yes sounds like hand foot and mouth. It's rampant in SW WA at the moment my DD has just had it along with all her cousins.
Look out for fluid filled blisters on hands and feet, keep away from other kids until they've healed.
Try some nurofen/panadol, soft foods, rest and fluids.

She's had HF and M about 6 months ago. The spots she had then were small and red and all over her tongue and mouth. She also had the spots in her face hands and feet. The works! This time it's just under her tongue and they r big ulcers. She does have some larger spots on both of her hips (like heat rash) but no where else. 😢

Had another bad night with DD. Her mouth is so sore and she's not eating (only had milk last night and some of a water ice lock). Back to the doctors today and seeing someone different. I was wondering if u can get HF&M twice (for some reason I thought it was a once only virus??) or could she have it but it's only in her mouth and no where else?

DS had a cold sore like virus that was mouth ulcers.

In this case we could do nothing but ride it out.

Bonjela etc was more painful due to the alcohol. There is an over the counter numbing liquid that you can get.

We fed mushy food and I BF a lot. And cold food.

There is liquid you can use called SM33 for mouth ulcers it's quite bitter though. There is also a cream called kenalog that you put over the ulcer so that it doesn't get Irritated at all. I've had ulcers my entire life so I feel for you little dd. Vegemite is another because of the salt content.

There are many strains of the virus that causes HFM, you can definitely get it more than once. DD is nearly 3 and had it twice now.

Thanks everyone for your advice and suggestions. Doc said she may have another form of HFMD 😟 So all we can do at the moment is ride it out, keep up her fluids and pain relief. She is hardly eating but just finished most of a Maccas icecream. Hopefully there is only improvements from here 😊
