@Carby, before we managed to get a couple of normal pgs embies we spent some time interviewing 5+ o/s donor clinics. Dr K at embryoland was amazing but we did have concerns about there being no guarantees after flying so far/spending so much. Our FS mentioned a clinic he knew was highly regarded in Spain instituto marques- he used to live in the UK. We interviewed them and were very impressed! We would have gone with them in a heartbeat if we had to go down that road. They had a british international donor program coordinator FS and they have guarantees on numbers of eggs- so if your donor doesn't perform they initiate a back up donor and if they don't perform they use frozen eggs. Just thought I'd share 😊

Hi @Hopeful137 so lovely to hear from u!
Yes that place in Spain is our other option. So down to those two.
They also have two clinics in Ireland but it seems silly not going direct to the place in Barcelona anyway.
That is great to hear that feedback tho. Embryoland does seem to be a bit of a conveyor belt but that may not be a bad thing. But I have read good things about Institute Marques too. I see though that the first point of contact can only be a Skype or call and was hoping to just sneak in an email enquiry first to break ourselves into the chat. Guess we have to just delve in!

Hi all! Well we had our FaceTime chat with the famous Dr Nikos (he's almost like a cartoon character!) and then a chat on the phone with Institute Marques in Barcelona.

We spoke also with this clinic at their Dublin branch (as we will be visiting family in Dublin anyway - while in the area) but it doesn't make sense to pay the extra €2500 ish to do it in Dublin over Barcelona. The extra cost is basically up coverthe transportation of eggs etc from Barcelona to Dublin. So cutting out the middle man as such and going direct to Barcelona makes sense if we go with these guys (and not put the eggs under any stress with freezing and thawing ....)
My FS here always said to try and get a place that does a fresh transfer, which makes sense.
Anyway Dr Nikos was good. Well I found him a bit over the top to be honest but he was clear and clearly does this many times a year for Australian couples.
"Ive had 100 babies in Australia since June!"
Institute Marques - had a chat on the phone with a nurse who was very helpful and informative and I almost preferred her slower calmness over Dr N if u get me....
Their subsequent email felt more professional. I dunno.
I know it will be down to a gut feeling in the end.
Both clinics said if the donor doesn't produce eggs they have a back up.
So we have lots to read and then decide which one.
Living in the hope in the meantime that a miracle happens!
But if not we are looking at a trip to Europe in Feb perhaps.
How is everyone going here? 😀

Hey @Carby how are your plans going. Have you anything in place to go overseas? This thread disappeared on me.
I'm now 2 days overdue with no moves just yet.
