Default Shocking facts from IVF Australia!!--Any one can recommend a Dr.??

I'm currently with IVFA and had two rounds (one IUI, one ICSI)both failed. Today I was told IVFA actually only does surgeries on Mon, Wed and Fri, which means a jab will be used to either promote or delay your hormone. I realised why IVF success rate is low might have something to do with that. I'm thinking of changing a clinic and looking at Demeter now. Can anyone give me some ideas about Dr. Knight from Demeter or recommend a Dr.??

I'm so sorry to hear of your IVF experience so far. I have dealt with Dr K and had a horrible experience with him, there is a thread about him here for further feedback https://www.bubhub.com.au/community/forums/showthread.php?558844

There are many other wonderful FS's and fertility clinics out there, I hope you find the best one for you and get your BFP really soon

Where are you located? Quite a few clinics use this method to reduce costs. I wouldn't like it though, my eggs are precious and I wouldn't want to risk them being too large/too small at egg collection. Definitely find a clinic that collects every day - including weekends!

Hi @amywillo86, I'm in southern part of Sydney. They all claim they do surgeries everyday. My dr from IVFA told me the same but i actually found it out from someone I know and from memory i did have all my surgeries on those 3 days. Thank you for your suggestion. will keep looking.

I think most clinics have set days to be honest. I don't think a day either way will impact a cycle too much

Hi @AceOfBase, thank you for your suggestion. DH prefers a smaller clinic. He thinks services will be better and you get more personalized treatment. I'm still struggling whether to stay with IVFA and just change the Dr or to go to a new clinic. will have a look. GL to you too

Genea is supposed to be the best you can try them.

Smaller is not necessarily better. We were at a smaller clinic and left them for IVF Australia. We have since found out about the court proceeding against this smaller clinic.

Please do your research before choosing ok.

Fertility First in Hurstville. Dr Clark is fantastic and her staff, all women, are lovely.

It also kinda depends on what you've already tried. I went to Dr Knight first and his clinic seems to favour low dose cycles. I only ever got 2 eggs in a cycle with him and a single embryo each time.

Dr Clark put me on a down-regulation cycle which helped a lot. I got 19 eggs which whittled down to 7 good embryos. DD was conceived in that first cycle with Fertility First.

Default Shocking facts from IVF Australia!!--Any one can recommend a Dr.??

It all depends on personal preference and the FS you see too. The professor at IVFA is by far the best specialist I have ever seen - for anything. He is absolutely amazing at what he does but more importantly his bedside manner can't be faulted! We have now had two of our friends go to see him and both those couples have been amazed by him. We also know others who were already being treated by him and they love him as much as we do. We started at Fertility First and the service there was actually disgusting. Dr C had no time for us which could be seen by the lines of women standing in the hallway of what is a beautiful heritage home that she converted to a clinic (really sucks you in cos it's beautiful). She also "shattered" my eggs, had the lab apologise but when I asked if we could meet and talk about what happened she said "how many kids do you want?! You have plenty of embryos to use, just focus on them" because my partner (same sex couple cycled too - had her pick up done by Dr Lok from Genea while Dr C was at a conference so luckily her eggs weren't shattered too). Never got an answer til we moved to IVFA and then we were told that my levels were too low for a pick up and my partners were too high and she should have been hospitalised. Explains why it took her a week to recover from the pick up! Anyway we used 8/9 embryos (well some didn't survive the thaw) and none worked. The prof sadly went on to say none of them should have been frozen as they were poor quality and not surprisingly because of hormone levels. The whole experience was atrocious and unfortunately we know so many others that experienced similar (there are some good news stories). There was even a thread on here not long with others horror stories. Please do your research. There is nothing wrong with having one appointment and seeing how you feel. Look out for typical lines like "I've been doing this long time" in response to questions that a FS might not know how to or want to answer. "It's all a roll of the dice" suggesting that it's pure luck if it works. "It's in gods hands now" which translates to it's not my fault if this doesn't work.

Oh and after over $20k at FF, we went to IVFA and had one transfer. Our 3 month old daughter is sleeping peacefully in her bassinet.

Good luck on whatever you decide to do! Just make sure you are comfortable we weren't and stayed anyway! Big regret but oh well!
