    Default Early symptoms

    Hi all,

We started trying to conceive this month. So it is all a little new! I am reasonably healthy and haven't had a cold sore or been sick in over a year. It is too early to test if I am pregnant, but today I woke with a coldsore and a sore throat, swollen glands, runny eyes, blocked nose and a mild headache. I ovulated four days ago. I have been keeping my fluids up. Is this an early sign of being pregnant, I read somewhere that you can get sick in the first two weeks due to a lower immune system. I do not want to take any meds in case I am pregnant??! Is this an early sign of pregnancy and did anyone else get sick in the first month / week?

The only real symptoms I had in the first two weeks was mild cramping, in fact that went on for several weeks. Other than that, no symptoms until late in the first trimester.

I honestly think that 4dpo is too early to feel anything significant. Your embryo would barely be implanting at this stage. And whilst some people do get cold-like symptoms (the sniffles and a blocked or runny nose) during pregnancy, this is usually a couple of months into the pregnancy.

Just try and relax hon. I had all the symptoms in the book for my first pregnancy and that ended in a MC. For that reason I don't put much credit into symptoms myself.

I'd say you're coming down with a head cold unfortunately it would be unlikely to be pregnancy symptoms as I think the egg takes awhile to implant, I think around 7-9dpo is the average for implantation - which is when you start getting symptoms as your body is producing HCG. Fingers crossed for you anyway though!!

Thank you! Yes, I feel even worse this evening. I think I will still try to ride it without medication just in case I have had two MC so don't want to risk anything
