Default Cool moisture humidifier - safe to leave unattended with 2 1/2 year old?

Has anyone used a cool moisture humidifier?

We just bought one & the instructions say not to leave unattended with a child so that they don't play with it

Not really sure how to achieve that with a 2 1/2 year old who i can absolutely 100% guarantee will play with it.

I bought it because i thought it would be relatively safe being a cool one.

Does anyone else leave one unattended with an active & inquisitive child? Do you reckon it's relatively safe even though the instructions say not to?

I'm not too worried if he spills water out of it, I'll just put it on a towel.

The power socket is up high out of his reach so that won't be an issue either

I would assume electricity and water do not mix well which is one reason why.

Also having essential oils if he drinks it he could get sick.

If it is out of reach and somewhere he cannot climb then it should be fine.

There's nowhere to put it out of reach, it would have to sit on the floor. He doesn't have any shelves or a nightstand or anything in his room to put it on.

It's just the actual electrical socket that's out of his reach

Can you put up a small wall shelf there? There are plenty you can get and it can be small just to put that on.

Otherwise no way would I leave one of those on the floor. My 4yo would probably not touch it but I have a walking 11 month old who touches everything.

Might have to get hubby to build a shelf

Anyone have any tips for a dry tickly cough in the meantime? We won't be able to get the shelf up tonight before bedtime. I've tried honey before but it didn't last long

Rub some Vicks on the bottom of his feet and massage around the bottom of his toes, it works a treat.
