Thank you it is quite scary.. I recall seeing an FS last year who suggested we do a lap to rule it out, but when he asked if I had any of the known symptoms, I said no and so it was assumed I didn't have it... I could have done this a year ago... A bit cranky with myself for not trying to rule it out earlier..

Unfortunately I am 40, so not sure how much of this is old eggs and how much is endo....

That's the scarey thing my cycles where always 28 days never a day shorter or longer and only went for a 4 days. First day heavy bleed then the next 3 a light bleed then it stopped boom. My first lap was June 2015. Then we did a fet in oct with out last ever frostie which failed on day 10 (genetic testing it was aok) ds who is now 8.5 months was conceived naturally off that failed fet in the November so it was 5 months post op. My fs would say if you haven't conceived within 6 months post op then go to ivf. Same fs/gyno/on a couple friends have also used, 1 had same issues as me and they to now have a 6wk ds

I had awful periods and tried to conceive for about a year before my lap. They found endo of course and cut it out. I was shocked when I fell pregnant one cycle after my lap. We almost didn't even try because I was still quite sore! I went on to have a normal uneventful pregnancy.

A friend had unexplained infertility for years with no endo symptoms. Thankfully her FS suggested a lap before she started ivf as they found quite a lot of endo. She was really shocked as no heavy bleeding or pain. She has gone into have 2 children via ivf with a lap just before each pregnancy.

A tiny amount of endo can cause extreme pain and a huge amount can cause no pain just depending on where it is. Sadly mine is the painful kind.

    Good luck with conceiving now

Wow.. It's liked a mixed bag of symptoms.. It manifests itself so differently in women.. I never had heavy bleeding, but like you come day 4, they just stopped, just like that!! Can I ask why you went straight int an FET after a lap? My fs says I need to try naturally first before he'll consider a lap.. Just wondering why you weren't asked to try naturally first!

I'm another with asymptomatic endo. Never any pain, very light periods. I had a lap before we started ivf, which we were doing anyway because of MFI, but my fs just wanted to check my insides out because I'd had a couple of gynae surgeries previously so wanted to make sure there were no issues. He found quite extensive endo (not sure of stage though) which was a big surprise. But reading this thread it seems my experience is not that uncommon!

Wow! It's amazing how endo can wreck havoc on fertility. I'm not really sure I understand how it causes infertility, but I'm happy to read all these success stories! Unfortunately for me, I'm 40, so there is a good chance I have old eggs because IVF for a year has not worked and we only get early blasts on day 5, so not feeling confident but hoping for a miracle. My fs doesn't think I need IVF.. He keeps saying I need to try naturally for 4 months at least...

Thanks so much for your well wishes hopefully af arrives in a couple of weeks and we can officially try and see how we go.. Not holding much hope but who knows!!!

Hi ladies, do you mind me to join the thread? I've been ttc for 5years. I've done two cycles of IVF since 2015. Unfortunately they were failed due to poor quality of embryos. Now my fs suspects that Ive got endo and she suggests me to do a laparoscopy. Whoever have done the lap Could you pls recommend a doctor who has good reputation for treating endo? I appreciate in advance for your help. ❤️

Hi hun, sorry to hear your struggles, which sound exactly like mine only I've had 7 failed cycles. I did my lap last week after my new fertility specialist told me I could have endo. I didn't have a single symptom so I wasn't convinced, but sure enough he found stage 3 endo and removed it all. None of the other 10 specialists ever suggested endo to me.

I didn't feel a thing post surgery and went back to work the very next day.
I can give you the name of my wonderful new FS, but he has a 4 month waiting list and I'm not sure if you want to wait? He's located in NSW (Bella Vista) in the Hills area.

Thank you so much for replying @nightowlsurprise. I've never had any endo symptoms as well as my period comes like clockwork (not heavy, 3days)every month, that's why my fs didn't suspect that I might have endo so she convinced me to try another cycle after the first failed ivf. Now I can't wait to get the lap done!! 4months probably too long for me but thank you for your kindness. May I ask how much it cost you for the surgery?

That was exactly the same as me. I would get my period every 24 days on the dot and they would only last 3 days. Mine were never heavy. Do you have pain during intercourse just before or during your period? That's another symptom.

I did my lap through Genea so the cost was $4,075 for Dr and $1,600 for anaesthetist. They told me if they didn't find endo the fees would be reduced. But I had stage 3 endo, so my fee didn't get reduced. I think if you don't have endo you're looking at between $2,500-$3000 all up.

I haven't put my medicare and health insurance claim in yet, but I think I get back around $1,000. So my out of pocket total is going to be about $4,600 for the surgery.
