@bubbletrouble was there anything the doctors could have done with us both? It just seemed to me like had they been open on Sunday morning, they could have monitored me with another scan or blood test to see...

I'm so sorry to hear this happened to you too Bubble... They want to put me on a different and longer cycle next time. I just feel like i lost the trust now between my doctor and us... How could they not know this?

Unfortunately it's just one of those things that occasionally doesn't adhere to "average" for some people. They can't actually pinpoint when you're going to ovulate, only that you will be soon, or have done so already, so an extra scan or blood test would not have been useful.

Clinics generally base EPU time as around 36 hours after you trigger and a formula is used to determine when that should be. It works in the majority of cases, but obviously not in ours!

I know it's hard not to feel angry at your clinic or FS, but this is still all a relatively new science, and sometimes the best way to treat you is found out by learning from past mistakes, as costly and painful as that can be. In my case, they could see that a different trigger worked as expected in a previous cycle so they used that the next time and it worked fine.

The longer cycles get used in cases where they want to have more control over your hormones, so to me it sounds like a logical step for your doctor to take. Fingers crossed it will be what works for you!

@bubbletrouble I was really angry & still am at our clinic. I know they did the best they could but I was hoping for better. I got into a bit of an argument with my doctor too just because I felt the nurses were being more supportive through this than she was... I knew this was going to be a roller coaster but I didn't expect such a huge dip right at the start...

@Summer I don't know what to say to you. Words are meaningless alongside grief. You fought the good fight. For what it is worth, I am sending you virtual hugs and strength.

@Tinachris I fly out tomorrow. Donor had her scan and 16 follicles with epu today so I'm anxiously waiting to hear the next report. I've been moving house for the past two days so I'm absolutely knackered so least I'll sleep on the plane. Thanks for thinking of me xo
