Default Coopers Brewery - Gay Marraige Ad

    http://www.watoday.com.au/federal-po...15-guyfo3.html

not sure if anyone has seen or been following this - but there has been a movement from several pubs to stop serving Coopers beer after they produced what is effectively an anti gay marriage ad.

They produced a special edition beer celebrating the 200 yr anniversary of the bible society ... and did an ad where 2 politicians debate gay marriage while drinking this beer .... and then wondered why people got upset and made a big deal about it.

They are still insisting the whole thing is not anti gay marriage but is about how both sides should be able to debate the issue nicely ...

    what do you think?

I haven't seen the ad so can't comment on it, but if it is like any other controversial moment- both sides are being overly aggressive.
Threatening people over anything is never ok.

However, my husband has seen the ad and even though he is against gay marriage (says if asked he will vote no but it doesn't actually affect him and so should just be allowed without a vote), even he said it was wrong.

I could see what they were trying to do by having both sides being debated and then having them articulate the others stance but it just didn't come across like that. I think my main issue was that they said to have a "light discussion while debating heavy topics" It shouldn't be a controversial topic. Love is love and marriage is simply marriage. There shouldn't be an adjective in front of it.

If you are going to have a heavy discussion using the bible, there are a lot of controversial topics in there up for debate.
They were also drinking alcohol and I am sure alcohol has been at the root of a number of marriage break ups and that finding out Tim from Accounts married his long term partner Brian, hasn't led to any.
